My Summary
Experienced Primary School & 11 Plus Tutor And Specialist Dyslexia Teacher
About Me
I am a qualified primary school teacher and SpLD Dyslexia Specialist teacher. Helping children build confidence, close learning gaps and achieve success through personalised, supportive tuition.
My Experience
If you're looking for high-quality 1:1 tuition, either face-to-face or online, from September 2026, or a Dyslexia Specialist teacher please read on and feel free to get in touch.
Why Choose Me?
I currently teach Year 5 and Year 6, giving me an excellent understanding of the upper Key Stage 2 curriculum. With Trafford Grammar School entrance exams now moving to a greater focus on the Year 5 curriculum, my day-to-day experience places me in a strong position to help children develop the skills and knowledge they need to be fully prepared for entrance school examinations.
While Trafford's assessment arrangements are changing, the process for independent grammar school entrance preparation remains the same, and I continue to provide tuition and support for these examinations.
About Me
I have over 20 years of experience in education, having worked in schools since 2004 and in Trafford schools for the past 12 years. As a parent of a secondary-school-aged child, I understand educational needs from both a professional and personal perspective.
My experience spans:
Early Years to Year 6 in mainstream schools

Striving Stars tuition has been a wonderful support for my daughter through the 11+, which, despite dyslexia and autism spectrum challenges, she recently passed with flying colours.
We have been delighted with Striving Stars’ sensitive and flexible approach, and will be continuing supportive tuition beyond the 11+. Thanks so much!

We came to TutorHal with no tutor experience when my daughter was in Year 4, whilst we were starting our 11+ prep. TutorHal quickly picked up her areas of difficulty and outlined all her gaps almost immediately. I noticed the confidence in my daughter very quickly and most importantly she began to enjoy the prep TutorHal was doing with her. I couldn't have asked for any more with the 11+ prep, TutorHal set homework according to what she knew my daughter could handle and pushed my daughter to what she was capable of achieving. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found TutorHal for my daughter as she has always been so supportive and honest with us. My daughter is about to take the exam and I can honestly say my daughter is feeling very positive and confident with her prep, it's all down to TutorHal. She has always taken the time to give us detailed feedback after the sessions and is always happy to help us with anything we need during the week via messages. She has been going beyond our expectations from a tutor. TutorHal has such a caring nature and my daughter will really miss her.
We've been so pleased with the tutoring for my daughter, I've also started my 5 year old with TutorHal. Again, she is amazing with closing the gaps he has and the best part is the fact that even my 5 year old really enjoys going to the tutoring lessons with her!. I feel so relieved we found TutorHal and look forward to continuing our tutoring journey with her.

With the help of TutorHale, my 4 year old son learned how to blend words. He now enjoys reading CVC stories. Thank you.

It was lovely to speak to TutorHale on the phone. She arranged for us to come round and meet her in her setting. Great little set up with separate entrance to the office. She was able to answer all our questions and we started our first lesson with her. So far so good!! Thank you!

TutorHale was able to get my eldest through the 11 plus and pass. She really helped put our minds at rest and was very clear with expectations from the beginning. The 1:1 tuition we received helped target the areas my son was weaker on and so helped improve on these areas further.
We are now back with her for our youngest! Who unfortunately has not been in one of the allocated year groups since the schools partially re-opened, so we have started her with TutorHale now that she will be starting Year4 to help cover any gaps in english and maths and prepare for the 11 plus.

Exactly what we needed! We needed someone who could support our daughter with dyslexia and offer some flexibility in helping with homework tasks that were tricky. TutorHale understood how to approach this and helped our daughter improve in literacy, in particular strategies to help with spelling and reading were really helpful and we could use those at home too.
