My Summary
About Me
Hello, and thank you for reading! I am an early years teacher who has been working as a nanny in East Sussex since 2019. I am a very outdoors-focussed nanny and we tend to go out and about, whatever the weather, to parks and on nature adventures. When spending time at home we love doing messy play, model making, baking, reading stories, dancing, and many more things. We get a great routine sorted, and have plenty of fun! I have had experience of working with children with language delay, children who are neurodiverse and children with special needs. I am always aware of developmental goals, and tailor this to each child individually. I track each child’s progress and give updates to parents on a regular basis. I have also helped with writing reports for children starting school who may need additional support, and for getting council funding for 1:1 nursery support. With the older children, I often help them with their homework, but whenever I am working with the younger children I am continuously using my knowledge of the early years foundation curriculum to enable them to learn and progress without even realising they are studying: Through play.
A little bit of work history: I began my career of working with children abroad in 2010, and did this for 5 years, mainly working in international kindergartens. I then returned to the UK and started working in a nursery here before training to be an Early Years Teacher at Sussex University. The course was also a Master's Degree, so I also have a Master's in Early Years Education.
After graduating from my Master's I was lucky enough to find a lovely family to work for as nanny in Yorkshire, working with a 4 year old boy and a baby girl. I absolutely loved working with these children, helping them to grow and develop, and finding fun things for us to do together. I then moved to East Sussex and have been working as a nanny ever since, with the following families:
* 2019 – present (looking after 2 girls from 1&2 years old)
* 2020 – 2021 (looking after a little boy with autism from 13 months until he
started nursery full time)
* 2021 – 2025 (looking after a little girl who had some developmental delay and
was partially deaf from 5 months, and her brother from 14 months, until the
family emigrated)
* 2023 – 2025 (looking after a little boy with some developmental delay from the
age of 2 until he started school)
* 2023 – present (looking after a little girl with autism and special needs from the age of 2)
I have an up to date DBS, am self-employed, have taken a pediatric first aid course, and I enjoy cooking. I also love animals, so pets aren't a problem.

We had Emily caring for our son Alexander one day a week for two years (ages 3-5), and she was wonderful. She consistently took him on engaging outings—playgroups, library visits, and nature walks where she shared her knowledge of plants and animals. Emily was great at keeping us informed with regular updates and photos throughout their days together.
Emily was particularly observant about Alexander's development, providing detailed feedback on his progress and proactively working on areas like fine motor skills. Alexander always looked forward to his time with Emily, and we could see how her thoughtful approach helped him develop confidence and curiosity. She played an important role in preparing him for the transition to school.
We would absolutely recommend Emily to other families.

Emily is a fantastic Nanny, anyone would be lucky to have her!
Emily has looked after our daughter for nearly three years now and has helped her progress with her confidence so much! We chose Emily initially because she has experience caring for children with autism and special needs, and she is very in tune with little people who struggle to communicate.
Often when we pick up from Emily she comments on little developmental changes that we have just noticed ourselves. Emily is extremely observant and interactive. She is thoughtful and always has loads of ideas of how to spend the time making it as fun and engaging as possible.
Thank you so much Emily for taking such wonderful care of our daughter!

Emily started looking after my kids in 2019, then age 6 months and 1.5 years. Emily started with us 3-4 days per week and still helps us out 1 afternoon per week. Emily is an absolute star - I'm so grateful to her for the fun, kindness and curiosity she brings along every single day she is with the kids. Over the years, Emily has taught them so much about plants, berries, baking, cooking, art, money - loads of stuff - and still helps them with their reading and tricky words. Emily is incredibly knowledgeable about early years and education and provided a great sounding board for me and the kids dad when we had questions and concerns over the years. Emily is a consummate professional and a big kid rolled into one - she's fab, and I'm extremely happy to provide this review. Elaine
