Cheryl K
Childminder in New Forest
My Summary
About Me
My name is Cheryl Kyte and I'm 47 years old. I'm an Ofsted registered childminder, and a mum of 3. I've been a registered childminder since 2017.
I live in Bartley with my husband and 3 kids - my eldest daughter is taking a gap year between college and university, my son goes to Barton Peveril College, and my youngest daughter goes to Hounsdown. I'm more than happy to take children or pick them up from the Foxhills schools (infants or juniors) or Ashurst pre-school.
I live in a large 4 bedroom house, and use the downstairs for childminding. Downstairs, I have a dedicated playroom with dressing up clothes, books, play kitchen and loads of games and puzzles. I then have a lounge which we tend to use for messy play like playdoh, painting and to practice pouring and scooping with dried rice. In my kitchen diner we have underfloor heating and glass doors which open up into the garden which contains ride on toys for the children. We moved in in September 2026, so the garden is our next project.
We have a beautiful British Short Hair house cat called Cosmo. He's very chilled and spends most of the day sleeping.
We don't spend many days in the house. On Tuesdays we go out for the morning to a childminder only toddler group in Totton. This is a fantastic environment for the children to be able to explore and make new friends. On Mondays, we generally head out to do something. This might be forest walks, bus trips, singing groups or soft play.
The aim for my childcare service is to provide an environment for your children where they feel completely at home whilst feeling cared for, respected and happy.
My Experience
Being a mum of 3, I've plenty of experience in dealing with children. Being a mum covers:
challenging behaviour
discipline and grievance
leadership skills
infuencing....and the list could go on.... ; )
My Qualifications
Fully insured
Cache Level 3 Diploma in Home Based Childcare
Paediatric First Aid
I'm not sure my Degree in Business Management helps much, but my A level in Psychology occasionally comes in handy!
My Availability
My current working hours are 7.30am to 5pm. I care for Early Years children on Mondays and Tuesdays, 46 weeks of the year. In addition, I take school children to Foxhills school or Ashurst preschool every day, and collect children Monday to Thursday.
I will have an 'all year round' vacancy (46 weeks of the year) for an early years child from August 2026 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Im looking for this to be a baby that's looking to stay with me until they go to school because I enjoy building a strong bond and it breaks my heart when they go! I have vacancies for before school for school aged children. I would consider taking on more after school children if they were collected by 4pm.

Before school is charged at £7.50 from 7.30am to school start, or £5.50 from 7.45am to school start.

I have used cheryl since she began and can say she is very professional, very caring and an excellent choice if you want your children looked after to a high standard. She is able to offer very good hours which are perfect as a shift worker as it's rare to find childcare before 7.30 am. Even at 06.45 in the morning my children happily (all beit sleepily) run off in to Cherlys and r welcomed by a bright, happy smile. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to feel confident that their children will be nurtured, have fun and be safely looked after.
