My name is Sophie, I'm an Ofsted registered childminder based on a working farm in a beautiful rural location. I live with my husband, Andrew, our son, Finlay, our two spaniels, Jack and Buzz, our cat, Lily, our two horses, Bonnie and Timmie as well as numerous chickens. I qualified as a teacher in 2012, then when I had my son in January 2016 I decided to take a break from teaching, childminding seemed like an ideal way to continue working with children but to also spend time with my son.
I can offer your child a lovely homely environment with plenty of space to play, both indoor and outdoor. I have a dedicated play room full of diverse and engaging resources. I place a great emphasis on the outdoors and we will get out and about to explore every day, come rain or shine! We have some glorious woodland above our house which is a favourite spot for my son and I. We may also attend groups such as Mumbaba or Jiggy Wrigglers or we may go to Staunton Farm or the local play park. I will deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage in a creative way, suited to your child's age and stage of development, my planning will largely come from the children and I will be guided by them and their interests, in my experience, children learn best in this way. If you have any questions about me and the care I can provide please don't hesitate to get in contact, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
I am a qualified teacher and have taught children from their very first days of school in reception through to their last, in year 6. Having my own son has given me first hand experience with much younger children and I have also worked with pre-school aged children in my younger days with summer nannying jobs and babysitting. I love working with children, I love the diversity and the new challenges they bring on a daily basis, never a dull moment!
My qualifications to date are as follows…
• 10 GCSE’S ranging from A*-C
• A-Levels in Geography, English Literature and Business Studies (2006)
• 2:1 Degree in Environmental Sciences from Bath Spa University (2007 – 2010)
• PGCE Primary with masters credits from Chichester University (2011 -2012)
• Home Based Childcare Award with Pacey (2016)
• Paediatric First Aid
• Food Hygiene
As part of my ongoing career development during my teaching career I also partook in many shorter training courses to do with teaching and learning, such as delivering numeracy and literacy creatively, behaviour management, Makaton and many more!
My working hours are 8am until 5pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, although I can be flexible on drop off and pick up times.
