About Me

I am Melanie Pierce, I'm a 'home from home' Ofsted Registered Childminder. I have been childminding in my home since 2007.

I live with my husband Dave and daughter Grace who is 15 years old.

I have a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management of Health & Social Care in Children and Young People's Services. NVQ Level 3 in Children's Learning and Development. I am First Aid/Epi-pen and Level 4 Safeguarding Trained.

My Experience

Before becoming a Childminder I worked as a Special Educational Needs Assistant alongside the SENCo in a school. I have experience of working with children with ADHD , Dyslexia and Severe Challenging Behaviour. Within the school, I also worked with small groups of children with speech and language difficulties.

12 years ago, I fostered a child for 6 months and I have my own childcare experience of being a mum to my 4 children for the last 30 years.

I regularly attend training courses in line with my job and a copy of my 'Professional Development File' and certificates are available upon request.

I carry out assessments and observations on the under 5's and record the child's development in their learning journey which is shared with parents.

I take the children to toddler groups, park, beach, sealife centre, soft play, farm, library and local areas of interest.

I have lots of educational toys and resources which help to encourage childrens play learning and development. I have a secure garden to keep the children safe and a large summerhouse for the children to enjoy !

Our daughter was with 'Mel Mel' for several months, and over this time we saw her develop confidence, a fabulous vocabulary and a love of hanging out with other children of all ages. Mel is exceptionally well organised and the set up perfect for exploring and learning. We would not hesitate to recommend Mel to anyone in the area!

Thank you Jules... will catchup with you and IP in the next few weeks x

Mel currently looks after my daughter, who absolutely adores her! Mel truly cares about the children and her passion for her job shines through. Mel’s warm and friendly nature made me and my daughter feel comfortable straight away. She always provides a safe, caring and fun environment. She has some fabulous toys and resources for the children to play with and offers many educational experiences. Most importantly I know my daughter really enjoys her time there. When I say we are going to Mels she always has a big smile. Thank you Mel, Dave and Grace for being so fantastic!

Thank you Jodie xx

My son has been with Mel since May 2017. He formed a great relationship with her straight away as he was looked after in a home for home set up. Mel takes the children out daily and engages with them in a variety of activities. Homemade art work and gifts are sent home regularly and daily diaries are accurately competed to ensure the best home to setting communication. Mel has a lovely relationship with all of her children within her care and it provides reassurance to myself as a parent, that my son is loved and looked after whilst I attend work. I would highly recommend Mel to any parents looking for a term time child minder.

Mel currently has our little boy, he settled very well and seems very happy with her, as are we! She genuinely cares for him and you really feel that she is doing it because she wants to rather than it just being a business. We are so pleased that we have found her.
