My Summary
About Me
I am currently a happy full time mum to my son who is two years old. Please take a look at my work experience to find out more about my career working with children. My passions in life are nature and music, I love writing and learning new music and I get geeky about identifying trees and plants. In my spare time I try to get outdoors to enjoy nature!
My Experience
Since the age of 17 I've worked with many different children and teens (one-to-one and groups) and within many different settings. Im passionate about my work and I strive to achieve great outcomes for all the children I work with.
I became interested in the area of creative therapies after working as a Therapeutic Play Worker across five schools, this led me to complete an MSc in Art Therapy (I graduate this year - 2026). I look forward to creating my own private Art Therapy practice once my son is a bit older.
Before begining my training as an Art Therapist I was working as a nanny in 2020 (looking after two boys who are school age), as well as working with vulneable teens at R.E.A.L Education (an Alternative Provision based in Mansfield). I also have nanny experience of toddlers and babies.
I have plenty of experience in working with children with special educational needs and disabilities- As part of my role as a Therapeutic Play Worker I worked within a complex needs school for two years. This work was preceded by a teaching assistant position in a Nurture department in a mainstream primary school.
I've done creative workshop facilitation with children as well, such as residential arts workshop weeks in Bangladesh, Gambia and Romania, as well as in the U.K.
Early on in my career, I ran sports specialism playschemes.
My Qualifications
I recently gained an MSc in Art Therapy. I have a degree in the arts (Music and Drama) and over the years have received plenty of training in safeguarding, diversity and inclusion, Autism Awareness etc. with organisations such as Action for Children and Woodfields Complex Needs School. I hold a certfificate in Therapeutic Play from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education. I have a Paediatric First Aid Certificate and a current PVG.
