I am training as an Art Therapist with Queen Margaret University. Please take a look at my work experience to find out more about my career working with children. My passions in life are nature and music, I love writing and learning new music and I get geeky about identifying trees and plants. In my spare time I'm outdoors enjoying nature!
My Experience
Since the age of 17 I've worked with many different individuals and groups of children, in a number of settings and with children of all ages and abilities. I've worked in schools and on various playschemes. In the schools I was working in the area of Play Therapy (I'm not a qualified therapist but started my training in Art Therapy at QMU in Jan 2021). I was last working as a nanny 2020, looking after two boys who are school age, but I also have previous nanny experience of much younger children. My most recent full time role was with R.E.A.L Education, working with vulnerable teenagers.
I've also had plenty of experience in working with children with special educational needs and disabilities- I worked in a complex needs school for 2years.
I've done arty things with children as well, such as residential arts workshop weeks- in Bangladesh, Gambia and Romania as well as the U.K- and early on in my career ran sports specialism playschemes.
My Qualifications
I have a degree in the arts (Music and Drama) and over the years have received plenty of training in safeguarding, diversity and inclusion, Autism Awareness etc with organisations such as Action for Children and Woodfields Complex Needs School. I hold a certfificate in Therapeutic Play from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education.I have a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, hold a DBS (current according to the update service) and my own car.
