About Me
Hi! My names Jemima and I am 26 years old, from Brighton and currently doing my degree in Early Childhood and Education and Care at Brighton University. I live at the end of London Road but own my own car, so I am flexible to work in any of the surrounding areas. I have previous childcare experience and qualifications and have a full and recent DBS check.
I have always been family orientated and love looking after children. I have a very caring nature and am very responsible. Building trust and having a good relationship with the whole family is very important to me. I don't take myself too seriously and love having fun, but I also know when to be serious and caring as well.
My Experience
My most recent experiences in childcare have been at local nurseries, one at a private nursery and also previously part time in an NHS nursery. During this time I have worked in every room, with children ranging from 0-5 years old and completed various training courses.
Previous to this, I have had very early experiences of babysitting and looking after family friends children.
Later on, I looked after a 4 year old from 8:30-4:30 everyday over half terms and then carried on with after school care and babysitting during school terms on and off until he was 7. I have also worked long term with families with children aged 10months to 9years old.
I also looked after a 3 year old, three times a week, to teach him English as a second language, often also minding his sister and brother too.
Before University I completed several online childcare courses.
My experience includes in the home, in an Early Years setting, as well as out and about (parks, activities, shopping centre, etc)
Preparing snacks and meals. Fun activities. Engaging in homework and reading. Stories and bedtime routines. Changing nappies and bathing.
I have also worked in many hospitality settings, so I have good experience and knowledge of hygienic food preparation and customer repor.
I completed a course in art foundation and also did textiles and photography at A level, so I love getting creative as well as doing outdoorsy activities, and know that both are essential to a child's development as well as academics. I used to have horses growing up and have always had dogs in the family, so I am completely happy with any pets in the household.
