Extracts from my Ofsted Report
Inspection report: 16 May 2018
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is Outstanding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is very secure in her knowledge of how to protect children's welfare and to keep them safe. She keeps her detailed knowledge up to date through regular training in safeguarding. The childminder has highly effective procedures to monitor children's progress. She works very closely with parents to support them to seek involvement from other professionals if required. She rapidly identifies specific plans for activities to help children make the best progress they can. Very effective partnership working with other childcare provisions results in children receiving a highly consistent approach to their learning. This results in them making rapid progress and being very well prepared for the next stage in their learning.
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is Outstanding
Children are excited to take part in all the activities the childminder plans and suggests for them. She knows them all extremely well. She plans activities that follow their interests and which promote their next steps in learning most effectively. Children are also highly motivated to take part in spontaneous activities. They become fully involved in construction activities. The childminder skillfully uses mathematical language and descriptive words to extend their vocabulary. She helps children to think about how they can solve problems for themselves. Children of different ages and abilities are able to make the most of the same activity because the childminder successfully differentiates during her individual interactions with them. Highly efficient, detailed observations and assessments of the progress each child makes links directly with the planning of activities, to continually build on what children already know and to widen their experiences
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children immerse themselves in the extremely well resourced and stimulating environment. The childminder encourages them to make choices about what they do and children are very confident to select their own toys and books. They are very familiar with the daily routines and their behaviour is excellent. They listen to the childminder who has a very consistent approach which helps children to know what is expected of them. Children rapidly develop an awareness of healthy lifestyles as they wash their hands at the sink and help to prepare their snack. They pour corn kernels into the popcorn maker, listen for the sound, and watch with wonder as the popcorn appears. Children show a very strong attachment to the childminder. Younger children snuggle into her when they are tired and readily fall asleep. Older children giggle along with the childminder as they make jokes together during their play.
Outcomes for children are Outstanding
Children make swift progress from their individual starting points. They are curious and very interested in all the activities. They form strong friendships and learn to show respect and care for one another. They are learning skills that help ensure they are extremely well prepared for starting school.
