About Me

Currently only available for term time mornings

Hello,
My name is Kevin and I am 35 years old. I currently work as a nanny for two school age boys. Picking them up from school and bringing them home for homework, play and dinner during term time. Out of term time I work full days, taking the children out for trips and activities.
before becoming a nanny I worked as the toddler room leader in a private nursery in Penge/Anerley, where I started in August 2020 and continued as cover staff, mostly in the baby room, after I left. I previously worked in a nursery as a nursery practitioner. While there I completed my level 3 childcare qualification and became interim preschool room leader before my course finished. I was also offered the role full time once I qualified, but decided to take on a new challenge.
I have also worked as a support worker in a residential foster home for 10 months. Before this I spent many years working in a small primary school. These roles mean I have worked with children at every age from 3 months up to seventeen years added to becoming a father in February 2022, I have taken care of children of all ages. I have formed strong, positive, respectful relationships with children and young people in all of my professional roles.

I am a very calm, laidback person with a natural ability for building relationships and bringing out the best in children. I am a positive and hardworking person who really enjoys seeing children grow and develop.

I enjoy music, playing ukulele and some guitar, and like to listen to music whenever possible. I also enjoy languages and can speak Spanish to an intermediate level and basic French.
I like to keep fairly fit and am currently in training for the London marathon.

My Experience

I currently work as a nanny for two school age boys. My hours vary around term times. In term time my day starts with school pick up at two different schools, taking the children home and helping with home learning, playing and preparing dinner before helping the younger child with shower time. Out of term time, I plan fun activities and days out, including museum trips, theatre shows and more relaxing days such as cinema and playground with picnics.
Before my nanny role I worked in a nursery, where I was the toddler room leader. My responsibilities were to ensure that the children I looked after made progress towards their developmental milestones. I also ensured that the daily routine, including activities, meal times, nap times and free flow play took place on time and effectively through the day. This was my second nursery role, having been a nursery assistant in the preschool room for two years, with a different nursery.
Before this I worked in a children’s home as a support worker where the youngest child was 9 and the oldest, 17. My job there was to help the young people develop positively as members of society. This meant keeping a watch over the behaviour of the young people, helping them to keep the house tidy and help them to keep their rooms and clothes clean and tidy. I also helped them in getting to appointments and helped in shopping for and preparing dinner. My favourite part of the job was taking the children out on activities and spending time with them around the home.
I have also worked in a primary school as a teaching assistant and learning mentor for 7 and a half years. During my time there I worked with children aged 4-11 and with children with a range of needs including, ADHD, ASD, physical and behavioural needs.

My Qualifications

I am level 3 qualified in childcare, and I am happy to become Ofsted registered. I have also recently (October 2020) renewed my paediatric first aid.
I have a learning mentor qualification which gave me knowledge on overcoming barriers to learning and helping children to learn about there own emotions and the feelings of themselves and others.
I have level 2 qualifications in food hygiene and safety, online safety and equality and diversity.
I have a current DBS, from August 2020, and am on the update service.

My Availability

I am available immediately and would prefer to keep my Fridays free as I take my young son to swimming lessons. Apart from that, I’m ideally looking for 2 to 4 full days, but I’m also happy to do school pickups with longer days in school holidays. School drop offs are possible but may be difficult depending on start time.
Overall, I’m fairly flexible so please just let me know what you’re looking for and we can see how that works out.
