OFSTED graded Outstanding, Experienced Childminder. 19 Years Experience.
I have 19 years of experience in childcare, I have been a registered childminder for 18 years and have also spent a year as a foundation stage teaching assistant. I love my job and really enjoy working with children and families. I have cared for about 150 children during my time as a childminder, some for years, ranging in age from newborn to 11 years old. I am 41 years old and live in a quiet cul-de-sac in Worle with my partner Dave. I am a Mum to Isaac (20) and Sophie (17). We have a gorgeous German Pointer Puppy, Stanley, who has been well socialised with the children. I am an experienced dog owner and practice responsible and sensitive handling of animals around children. I have a CACHE Level 3 in Childminding Practice. I undertake regular training and have current DBS, Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Certificates. I ran an extremely successful business in Cornwall for 10 years (Lollipops Childcare) and moved to Weston in 2018.
My philosophy is to give the children in my care a ‘home from home’ experience with lots of activities and outings planned to help them learn, develop and progress through the EYFS curriculum.During the day I care for just three children under five, which gives the children opportunity to reach their full potential, and be known and valued as individuals. I offer before and after school care for Becket Primary School and Worlebury Primary School. We have a warm, comfortable, well equipped family home with playroom, downstairs toilet and bedrooms for rest purposes. I also have a large, fully enclosed garden for outdoor play and learning. I am a member of the Professional Association for Childcare and the Early Years (PACEY) and have full insurance. I operate one large vehicle. The car has full business use insurance, MOT and is regularly serviced.
I offer a wide range of activities, adaptable and inclusive of all ages. I plan activities weekly and often theme them.
Here are some examples:
-Stories, reading, sharing books together.
-Developing curiosity through investigating interesting and unusual objects.
-Playing together with toys, building towers with blocks, threading cotton reels onto string, and racing toy cars.
-Cooking, baking and preparing food like fruit salad.
-Imaginative and role-play, like dressing up and making dens etc
-Developing fine motor skills by playing with pegboards, tap shapes, etc
-Outdoor activities like gardening, playing on outdoor equipment, walking to the park, going to the beach or the woods. I have interest in Forest School and have completed some training.
-Visiting local toddler groups
-Dance and Yoga
-Painting, Play-Dough, cutting and sticking or other creative activity.
-Messy play with water, sand, cornflour, jelly etc
-Singing and dancing to music, making our own music with instruments
-Playing with games, puzzles and jigsaws.
-Regular Weekly outings to a variety of inspiring places such as National Trust Properties, The Beach, Woods, Soft Play Areas, Farm Parks, Bristol Zoo, The Wild Place. (included in cost of childcare)

Care, learning and play
I am committed to providing a welcoming childminding environment where children can develop their confidence, independence and self-esteem. I will ensure that there are suitable toys and play materials to enable children to develop their emotional, intellectual, social, creative and physical skills.
I will provide activities, play opportunities and first-hand experiences to help children develop their natural curiosity as learners. I will listen to and value what children have to say, and talk with them about what they are doing. I will help them develop social relationships by supporting their play and learning.
I will encourage children to use their imagination by providing lots of different play opportunities and role-play experiences. I follow the themes of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and believe that a unique child, who has positive relationships and enabling environment will learn and develop.
I have excellent references, please get in touch for an information pack or to arrange a visit.
