Stacey
Childminder in Bristol
My Summary
About Me
I have worked in childcare for over 20 years and believe it is a privilege to be responsible for the development, happiness and health of children. I take huge pride in what I do and have a natural affinity with children. As a mother myself, I understand the need to find someone kind and caring to look after your children. I provide a home from home environment, where children feel safe and secure.
I am caring, patient and passionate about aiding in the development of children in all possible ways. I love to see how children grow into their personalities and find it fascinating to watch how they change over time and become more confident.
We regularly go on outings to parks, woodlands, play cafes, soft play and libraries. We spend time reading books, doing messy play, sensory play and arts and crafts in my home. We have free flow play from inside my home to outside in our garden, so that children can utilise all the space and enjoy playing outside as often as they would like. Play is both structured (adult led) and open-ended (child-led), in order to aid in the progression of all seven areas of learning and development. We have a varied schedule to keep our days interesting, engaging and fun. I provide a termly Activity Planner with a theme for the term, which helps to focus the children’s education on a specific topic and allow them to fully explore every part of their world whilst learning and developing through play.
I really enjoy cooking and baking and love introducing children to new food. I think it is important for children to enjoy eating a varied diet. Meals and snacks are included within my fees and can be altered to suit dietary requirements or allergies. We regularly bake homemade snacks to enjoy together, such as healthy flapjacks and muffins. I provide a 4 week rolling menu, which changes seasonally. I can provide a sample meal plan on request.
Parents are the most important people in children's lives and it is very important for me to have a strong relationship with all parents and carers. We will be able to celebrate children's successes and plan any actions together to aid in development as required. We can work in partnership to help children achieve their full potential.
I am first aid trained, Ofsted registered and Level 4 qualified in Early Years.
We have a cat and a dog - just in case of any allergies. They are around in the house but not usually in our playroom with us. The children get a chance to interact with the animals safely.

My Experience
I have been a registered childminder since August 2021. I was a nanny for over 13 years and worked in a nursery and a primary school prior to that, totalling 22 years of childcare experience. I have nannied for children ranging from newborn to 10 years old, with families with between one and four children including a nanny share with two boys the same age, the equivalent of looking after twins.
I have my own two children, born in November 2018 and August 2020, who will be present in my setting before and after school.
I employ an assistant who is incredible. We have 6-8 children per day in the setting.

Our daughter had such an amazing time with Stacey and settled in really quickly from the very beginning. Stacey has created such a homely, calm, caring setting and is always working hard to make it even better.
Our daughter really loved all the trips in the party bus and made some really great friendships. When she was diagnosed with coeliac disease Stacey made her own special drawer in the freezer and cupboard for her special food and made the meal plan so that she never felt left out from what the others were having. She took it all really seriously and we felt in very safe hands.
Couldn't have asked for more, highly recommend!

Our daughter started with Stacey when she was 15 months old and stayed until she started preschool. Initially, we found looking for childcare quite overwhelming and quickly realised that we wanted her to be in a home setting as opposed to a bigger nursery. Luckily, we found Acorns 2 Oaks, which far exceeded even our highest expectations. Our daughter absolutely loved going there and we were always confident knowing that she was in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. We really appreciated Stacey’s knowledge and expertise of the early years framework and her wealth of experience in working with children in different settings over the course of her career. She really has a way with children - she is compassionate, caring and gentle. The range of activities and trips offered was incredible and it’s clear that Stacey puts a huge amount of care and attention into planning a stimulating schedule for the children that is both fun and supports their development. Similarly, Stacey offered a fantastic range of healthy meals, exposing children from an early age into a variety of flavours, textures etc.
The bond our daughter developed with Stacey and her family is really special - so much so that she’s recently started going there again after school and is thrilled to be back! We also loved that she was with a small group of children that she got to know really well and some of those friendships have continued to this day.
Acorns 2 Oaks is managed very professionally and Stacey communicates her policies clearly. There is a robust sickness policy in place, which ultimately mitigates the risk of children passing on illnesses. We found Stacey incredibly approachable and she was always will to work with us if we were facing challenges (e.g. when our daughter was teething).
In short, I would recommend Stacey to anyone looking for childcare in South Bristol without hesitation. Our daughter absolutely thrived with her.

We couldn’t be happier with Stacey and her setting. She provides such a warm, safe, and caring environment, and our little one absolutely loved going each day. Stacey cooks healthy, home-made meals, takes the children on lovely outings, and always makes sure they’re learning and having fun.
The setting feels safe and stable, and with Stacey’s updates and handovers we knew our child was being well looked after.
Stacey is always professional, kind, and approachable. Our child has thrived in her care, and we feel very lucky to have found her. I would highly recommend Stacey to any family looking for a caring and reliable childminder.
