About Me
We are a husband and wife team, we live with our 2 daughters in a nice family home with a lovely outdoor free flow garden, the children especially enjoy getting messy in the art cabin. In our free time we enjoy baking, reading, photography, and country walks.
We are very active and like being out and about, so most days the whole team are taking part in a range of experiences from attending weekly playgroups to visiting the farm- we are always busy!
Sam has worked in childcare almost exclusively since finishing college where she studied Sociology, Psychology, English Literature, and Health and Social Care.
Mark joined me in August 2018 and is currently studying towards his home-from-home childcare qualification.
Both Mark and Sam are paediatric first aid trained, fully DBS checked and hold a level 3 in safeguarding.
We accept funded hours and other schemes supported by the government.
My Experience
We moved to Somerset in 2023, after running a successful childminding business in Portsmouth for over 5 years, now we are settled in our new community we are excited to get back to doing what we love.
Sam holds a diploma level 3 in childcare and early years development, and is currently studying for her degree in childhood development and education with just over 13 years experience in Childcare between us, including age-specific training for 0-2's and 2-.5's.
Sam has studied behavior management training, Makaton, has extensive knowledge of schemas, peadatric first aid, babywearing training, safeguarding training, and more.

I am so pleased we decided to go and see Sam when looking for childcare for our 6 month old baby. I knew immediately that Chivers Childminding was the place for my daughter. I was so nervous about my daughter starting, especially as she was so young. I needn't have worried though as Sam and Mark have been fantastic. Emily settled in so quickly and absolutely loves her time there. Sam truly cares about the children and makes such an effort to engage with them and do nice things. She also has gone above and beyond, sending me tips and suggestions for weaning which I'm so grateful for. She has always worked with me to care for Emily in the way that I wanted and I'm just so grateful I found her!
