About Me
Hi, I’m Claire — a Registered Childminder based in Canton, Cardiff.
I’ve been childminding since 2006 and genuinely love what I do. I’m a member of PACEY, fully insured with public liability insurance, and regulated by CIW (Care Inspectorate Wales). I also hold a valid paediatric first aid certificate.
I live in Lansdowne Gardens, just between Ysgol Gymraeg Treganna and Ysgol Gymraeg Pwll Coch — a great location for families with children attending those schools. I have two grown-up children of my own, both still at home.
My setting is all about warmth, fun, and development. We head out every day to local playgroups that offer a mix of singing, music, creative play, and story time — brilliant for socialising and making those early friendships that often carry into school life.
We also spend lots of time outdoors, whatever the weather. We’re regulars at Thompson’s Park (yes, we feed the ducks!), and we’ve got a great little play park just down the road.
At home, I offer a homely, happy, and caring environment with a wide range of toys for all ages and stages.

My Experience
I have been a Registered Childminder since October 2006, caring for children from 3 months old through to school age. Over the years, I’ve welcomed many children into my home and supported their early development through play, routine, and plenty of outdoor experiences.
I hold a QCF Level 5 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development and a Level 5 Diploma in Playwork. I’m committed to continuous professional development and regularly update my knowledge to stay in line with best practice and current guidance.
I’ve had experience caring for children with additional needs, including supporting a child with a hearing impairment. I can use basic Makaton to aid communication and inclusion.
I have favourable inspection reports from CIW (Care Inspectorate Wales), and I’m happy to share these along with references and my registration certificate upon request.

My usual working hours are 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
I currently offer:

• School drop-offs and pick-ups for Ysgol Gymraeg Treganna
• School holiday cover – availability may vary, so feel free to contact me for current spaces
• I am registered to offer the Welsh Government’s 30 Hours Funded Childcare

Claire looked after our daughter 2 mornings a week from the age of 6 months up till she was 2 and a bit. Always totally reliable, she provided a warm family atmosphere for our daughter as well as regular activities which kept her stimulated and entertained. Rowan loved going to Claires and now we have moved we will miss her.
