About Me

Being a nanny allows me to be my inner child and to be a role model and most importantly to enjoy life in the most fun way. I believe nannying is the best job! I get to make children smile. My nannying approach is calm and collected but if I need to be firm, I will do so following the parents' rules as well. To a parent - I want you to know your child is always safe with me and in good hands. Organisation and routine are key in my work as structure can really set a good day for everyone. (Also, the other key is to bring some magic). Cooking, along with drama is also another passion of mine which clearly children love. It helps being half Italian perhaps you can catch us flipping pizzas and baking cakes when you get home!

I pride myself in being a down to earth individual who only wants to make people happy. This is why I enjoy being a nanny as it brings me much joy seeing children use their imaginative and endearing minds going on a journey with them.

Overall, I promise to be a reliable, stimulating and relatable individual to your children and family. A very enthusiastic and happy nanny in what she does to only reflect that on your life's.

My Experience

Full-time live-in Nanny/Housekeeper to 2 children (aged 13 & 9) in Balham November 2020 to October 2022

Duties and responsibilities:

Being a live-in nanny meant that I would be on constant duty and tend to their needs at all times.

I would always provide regular updates to the parents on the children’s progress at school and general wellbeing and would raise any urgent concerns immediately. The 13-year-old girl who I cared for has autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia so I would constantly monitor her making sure her learning and wellbeing was being attended to at all times. This meant I had to always be aware of the children making sure they are maintaining a good relationship with each other and making sure my attention was going to both children.

Whenever I was needed to collect both children from school/after school clubs I would do so either by driving my own car or on public transport. I would also attend birthday parties, sports days, prize ceremonies at their schools and travel to watch performances they participated in which meant the children felt I was always there to support them and be proud of their achievements.

I made sure the girls health and well-being were being closely looked after. Whenever needed to I would regularly book and take them to doctors, dentist and optician appointments.

Every couple of days I would make sure to keep children’s rooms’ clean and tidy, including children’s bathroom, kitchen, playroom and living areas. This also meant I would wash any linen and regularly wash and change towels. The children's bedrooms and playroom would need a clear out once they had outgrown clothes or toys. I would take on wardrobe management to maintain organisation for the children.

Every day I would prepare wholesome, balanced meals for the children and for the parents for 2 nights a week where needed, including fresh fruit and vegetables provided to the children on a daily basis. I enjoy cooking and have learnt many skills along the way including how to prepare meals for the whole family.

With one child doing her GCSE’S and the other studying for her 11+, I made sure both girls stayed on track with their homework ensuring structure and completion of children's homework on all evenings worked.

Whilst children went to school I would focus also on washing, folding and putting away of children's clothes and uniforms. When the girls outgrown their uniforms, I would make sure they had whatever they needed with labels.

I think it is important children spend time with their friends maintaining those friendships therefore I would schedule play dates allowing the girls when deserving and as a reward for good behaviour to have sleepovers etc. I am a very fun and active person so I found joy in taking the girls to activities for example to the park, museums, go ape and other outdoor activities. On times where we would we stay at home I would make up activities that involve crafts, baking and more.

I would often minimise their screen time undertaking appropriate educational and creative activities with the children.

For one night a week I would babysit whilst the parents went out meaning putting the girls to bed. I was always flexible to do more babysitting if I needed to and sometimes even on weekends.

The parents needed me to run errands such as dry cleaning, going to the chemist, grocery shopping and just general day to day purchases. I would check and purchase groceries and household supplies to maintain adequate levels.

The family had a dog that was under my constant care. Every day I took him for an hour walk whilst making sure he is healthy, feeding him and occasionally taking him to the vets if necessary.

I had a very good relationship with the family and they trusted me enough to look after their house whilst they went away on holidays, trips etc whilst remaining confidentiality at all times for anything during the job.

As a full-time live-in nanny, I wanted to make sure I understood the girls therefore, I would take time to educate myself on the development of the children as they grew. One child was going through the transition from primary school to secondary school and the other becoming a teenager meant that I would constantly adapt to new behaviour and change in their lives. I made sure to support them and make sure they were happy.

Duties and responsibilities:
I gave constant supervision to the children at all times. This meant making sure they were safe and doing suitable and sensible activities.
As well as looking after the children, I made sure the house was kept clean for the family. I would put the children's uniforms in the wash, I made sure the washing up was done, cleaned surfaces and other basic cleaning jobs.
I engaged with the children in every aspect. If the children needed my help with something in learning or to play an activity.
I made sure I knew what was happening in terms of plans with other parents or knowing what time their out of school activities are. Meaning I would liaise with people to make sure the parents would know there was an organised routine in place.
I would pick up the 3 children from nursery and school and bring them back to the house.
If the children had any out of school activities e.g. art class, friend's houses, karate, swimming, football I would then take them to and from making sure that they are all set for what type of activity it is, for example packing football or swimming kits.
When I would bring the children home from school, I would prepare them a meal before then cooking a nutritious dinner.
Often, I would offer to help with their homework. I encouraged the children to try to do things without my help however if they really needed it, I would always be there to lend a helping hand.
The nightly routine of bedtime consisted of bathing the children, making sure they brushed their teeth (with the youngest id help her to do things like this), reading them a story with a milk drink and making sure they had everything ready for the following day.
