Hi there,
My name's Vivienne and my partner is Anthony and we have 2 boys - Albie (aged 7) and Finn (aged 5). We all live together in Sale. Albie is autistic and attends a special school. Finn has just started the local primary school.
It is Albie that we are seeking childcare for. Although he is verbal (and very chatty once he builds up trust with someone!) he likes to talk about things that interest him, and he doesn't adhere to usual social rules of conversation. At the moment his special interests are Matilda, Fire doors/escapes, numbers, building blocks, Lego and playing an imaginary lava game (which is based on videos he watches on YouTube). He has PDA (pathological demand avoidance) so we use a very low demand approach with him at home. Although Albie can take a while to warm up, he is great fun and an interesting little boy once he is comfortable with you.
My Requirements
We are looking for someone who ideally has experience of working with autistic children (ether personal or professional) but this is not essential.
Albie is currently unable to attend school due to anxiety. So we are looking for someone who could look after Albie 2 days a week during term-time. This would ideally be Wednesday and Thursday, but we can be flexible with this. Finn would be in school so it would be 1-to-1. Anthony works from home so is available if there are any emergencies or queries.
