About Me

Hello! My names Chloe, I'm 27 years old and moved to the area of Hastings just over a year ago. I'm currently a Teaching Assistant in a local Primary school but I'm looking to start a new path within my career of childcare, and become a Nanny within a lovely family.

I have a caring nature and fun loving attitude. I love music and animals, so if you are a family with fur babies too, I'm more than happy to take care of them also. I'm passionate about the development of children and I believe its really important to help a child to grow into the person they want to be.

My Experience

At the beginning of 2022, I started as a forest educator in a forest school nursery called 'Little Forest Folks'. I was there for 3 months and loved it! I love being outside and happy to encourage lots of outside play.
At the end of 2021 I left an amazing Primary school where I had been Teaching Assistant for 3, nearly 4 years. In those 3 years I have worked in Reception class, Year 1 twice, Year 6 and a little bit in year 3. I have also been highly involved in the Breakfast and After school club and during lockdown I took responsibility of opening up the school and the club, managing staff shifts and taking care of the Key worker Parents children. The school has particular experience in children with special educational needs. I therefore have had experience looking after children with physical needs and learning needs. Before working in the primary school I worked in an amazing nursery for 4 years plus I was a student there for 2 years. My job at the nursery involved the day to day care of the children, setting up activities to suit their interests and needs, changing nappies and potty training, serving food, putting them to sleep, and most of all, HAVING FUN!! Throughout my time in childcare, I have learnt to build strong but proffesional relationships with parents of the children I cared for. Of course, being a childcare practitioner involves looking after parents as much as looking after the children; and just being able to provide support when parents need it. My mother has been a childminder for as long as I can remember, therefore I have been around children for most of my life. I have families that I regularly babysit for and have been for a number of years; although lockdown did put a pause on babysitting.

My Work and Experiences:

-Teaching assistant, bishops down primary school, Tunbridge Wells, Kent — September 2018- December 2021
Bishops Down Primary School is a mainstream happy, warm and welcoming school. They take pride in their values of: achievement, self-belief, perseverance, independence, respect and equality. Diversity is celebrated within school and the school itself is accepting of all the needs of the children who join. I first joined Bishops Down in the Reception class. In the second academic year I moved up with the same class into year 1. This year, and currently, I have been in the year 6 class. My role is to work alongside the class teacher helping with gathering resources and general support in class. I have worked one-on-one with children and have supported groups in interventions. Bishops Down welcomes children with additional needs, I have therefore supported children who have physical and/ as well as additional learning needs, such as: behavioural, ASD, diabetes, down syndrome and various physical needs.
Beehive- Before and After School Club- I have had the opportunity to work in Bishops Downs breakfast and after school club. Every morning (from 7:30) and every afternoon (from 3:15- 6:00) I arrive at school and help with the preparation of breakfast whilst caring for the children and providing enriching activities. In the afternoon I will share the responsibility of making a light tea with the other staff in Beehive, and again provide activities for the children. I help care for all the ages of the school whilst in Beehive- ages 3-11. During the first year of Covid I had been given extra responsibility of opening the school for breakfast club, and looking over the rota making sure we have the right number of staff. I had been the first line of contact for staff whilst the manager of Beehive had been isolating, so I had taken on a more leadership role within the school.

-St Georges Childrens Community Project, Tunbridge Wells (2012-2014)- Whilst studying my Child Care course I worked alongside the Child Care practitioners at St Georges 2 days a week, 6 hours a day for the two years. I experienced different rooms and different ages. I worked with children of ages from 6 months to 4 Years. I was then hired full time in which I worked in the 2-3 year old room for 4 years (2014-2018).

-Dog Walking- During my 2 years at college, I carried out a part time dog walking job. This was for a local couple that couldn't walk their dog as often as they wanted to due to disabilities. Furthermore, for a summer whilst working at the nursery, I walked a dog during my hour lunch for 4 days a week.

-Volunteer Work in Africa (April 2013)- Through working hard at secondary school, I was given a trip to Kenya Africa to do volunteer work in a school. For 12 days I stayed with a local family in Kenya and everyday walked to the local school (in which the Father of the family I stayed with, helped set up) to work alongside the teachers and help them in the classes. My role was to stand up in front of the class and teach the children certain letters or numbers that they would be learning that day. I would write them on the board for them to copy. I would then do one on one work with some of the children in their exercise books to help their pronunciation and writing. Me and a few of the other volunteers taught the children songs, helped cook meals and played with them at playtime.

-Secondary school, Skinners Kent Academy, Tunbridge Wells 2011- I carried out some work experience for a week in a children's play centre (Our Space, Tunbridge Wells). My role was to ensure the children's play area was safe and clean, to wait on tables and clean them up, and to set up activities for the children.

My Availability

Unfortunately I have to give 4 weeks noticed in my current role, so I'm looking to start with a family, around after February half term. If that works for someone.
Full time within a family would be amazing! However, I'm happy to work less, maybe 3 days minimum.
If you are a family in need of regular babysitting, please get in contact and I'd be happy to help.

Please message me if you'd like to know more about me or ask any questions. Thank you!
