My name is Jemima, I am a 24 year old home childcarer/ Higher level teaching assistant living in Margate.
I have 3 years experience working with sensory, behavioural, emotional, and medical needs children both in home settings and within a school.
I hold a BSc in Language Sciences and Psychology which I completed following a 3 year extended diploma course in Health and Social Care. Currently, I work as a private complex needs child minder and lead a communication and sensory needs classroom with an SEN school. Whilst continuing my speech therapy masters studies through open university in 2021 I will be looking for extra work, particularly mornings, daytimes, and Saturdays.

My Experience
I have 3 years experience working with sensory, behavioural, emotional, and medical needs children in home settings - including peg feeding, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and alternative communications.
I have 2 years experience as a TA within a sensory and physical needs school. Following this for the last year I have worked as a higher level teaching assistant - leading and planning for a classroom of children with severe developmental and chronological mismatch and high sensory impairment.
Before working at this school I held a different childminder position for 1 year looking after a young boy with Prader-willi syndrome. My role was to teach mindfulness, anger management, urge control, and emotional identification techniques as well as homework help and general family support in EHCP application.
In addition to this I have four siblings with Asperger's Syndrome from which I have gained a good insight into AS and ASD alike, with a passion for meeting children's needs with patience and a holistic perspective, accounting for whatever additional requirements are best suited to them.

2:2 BSc degree in Language Sciences and Psychology (University of Reading)
Level 1 British Sign Language
D* extended diploma in Health and Social Care
Maths, English, Sciences, Art, Graphics GCSEs
First aid trained and DBS checked
