About Me
Hi! My name is Donna Smith, I am a grade 5 care inspectorate registered childminder (Full service report available). I offer full time, part-time, out of school care and school holiday cover. My aim is to provide a happy, caring, warm and friendly environment. Giving children independence and freedom to develop, learn, and have fun whilst in my care. I achieve this by providing stimulating activities which are age-appropriate, outdoor play, and encouraging imaginative play. I also involve children in community based activities such as, parent and toddler groups, bookbug, Fit Ayshire Babies, mini movers, swimming, toddler Spanish, toddler tennis and regular trips to the local parks such as Eglinton Country Park, Dean Park Country Estate, RSPB, West Kilbride Glen, Fullarton Fairy trail, taking into consideration the parents’ wishes. All activities will be available for all children without discrimination, adapting activities where possible for a child's specific needs and development.
Health and safety are important to ensure children are safe whilst in my care and as such I carry our regular risk assessments and fire safety that are reviewed regularly.
I want to work closely with the child's parents to provide a reliable, quality and as individual a service as possible. I hope to form lasting mutual relationships with both parents and children.
My Experience
For the last 3 years I have volunteered at church Creche on Sundays working with ages 0 - 5. I have the experience of raising my step children for the last 16 years and have a 4 year old son. I have completed many training courses listed below and more recently completed Level 7 HNC in Childhood practices.

Leaving my child with Donna was like leaving him with a family member. I knew he was going to be in a safe environment where he was well cared for and treated with respect.
Donna organised a variety of engaging activities, taking into consideration our son’s interests and our wishes for his development. She used the online program ‘learning journals’ to privately share his activities with us, including a diary of his day and photographs of him having fun. It was so nice to sit and look through these every day.
Donna is kind, calm and respectful and my son adores her. Would highly recommend her to anyone looking for childcare that is a home from home for their child.

Donna provides a fantastic service which my son loves. Donna encourages my 3 year old to participate in a variety on indoors and outdoor activities and supports his growth and development and encourages him to reach his full potential at his own pace. Donnas service is very inclusive. Donnas learning journals are a great way for all to communicate and keep improving the service to fit the age and stage of my childs development. I would highly recommend this service.
