Nanny, Glasgow Southside
(March - August 2022)
Last summer, while working towards my master's degree, I had the opportunity to care for two wonderful children (ages 10 and 7) in Netherlee. Three days a week, I handled their morning routine, ensuring they began their day with a healthy breakfast and well-packed lunchboxes, and safely escorted them to school. After school, I provided dedicated support with their homework, prepared dinners, and created a nurturing environment for their evening activities. During the summer holidays, we worked our way through an Ultimate Summer Bucket List, which included picnics in the park, trips to a rollerskating rink and multiple soft-play areas, at-home spa days, lots of baking, and water fights with the neighbours' kids! I thoroughly enjoyed providing reliable and attentive care to these lovely children, and was thrilled at how seamlessly I integrated into this family's daily life.

Nanny and Tutor, Glasgow West End
(September 2018 - March 2020)
Before the initial lockdown restrictions were enforced in March 2020, I worked as a part-time nanny and tutor for a wonderful family in Hyndland. Two nights a week, I tutored their daughter (age 10-12), who attended Glasgow Academy. While I specialised in reading and writing skills development due to my academic focus in English Literature, I assisted her in completing homework assignments across the curriculum, and prepared her for tests and exams in English, RE, Drama, Science, Art, Maths and more. Due to my bond with their daughter, the family quickly hired me as a part-time nanny for her and her younger brother (age 4-6), for whom I cooked, entertained, collected from school, bathed, put to bed, and escorted out on trips to the cinema, sports and drama lessons, live events, and for meals. This was an immensely rewarding experience for me and I grew to love both children dearly.

Head Acting Coach & Bunk Counsellor, Camp Tapawingo, Sweden, Maine
(June - August 2019)
I spent the duration of summer 2019 working at a residential all-girls summer camp, Camp Tapawingo, in Sweden, Maine, US, where I lived and worked from mid-June until the end of August this year. As a bunk counsellor, myself and one other young woman had full-time responsibility of seven twelve-year-old girls for whom we took on an intense parenting role from June to August this year. I established their daily routine from morning to night, and I safeguarded their physical and mental health with regards to hygiene, nutrition, exercise, their relationships, their homesickness and their 3 a.m. tears. I educated and carefully guided them through their initial unnerving interactions with puberty; an occurrence with which many were previously unacquainted. I initiated their participation in activities from water and land sports to theatre and speech writing. I worked 48 hours-per-day as a mother, teacher and friend, not only to my girls, but to the other 130 children at the camp, who were ages 8 to 17. This role substantially improved my resilience, perseverance, organisation and confidence, and polished my understanding of the legal, social and cultural duties of care required when working with children of different ages.

As Head Acting Coach, I solitarily ran auditions, cast and led rehearsals with 21 ten-year-old children, in my successful direction of Frozen the Musical. Furthermore, I co-directed a production of Hamilton, with a diverse cast of 30 fourteen-year-olds with different needs and abilities, which we performed for an audience of over 400 people.

Girls Rock Glasgow: Summer School for Girls
(August 2017)
In the Summer of 2017, I spent August volunteering with Girls Rock: Summer School for Girls. I helped to run music workshops, creative writing workshops, identity workshops and self-defence classes and, in doing so, gained the trust of both the children and their parents. This experience was immensely rewarding as I grew close with each child in both a disciplined teaching environment and when they unwound for lunch and breaks, over the course of 7 full days. The fundamentally inclusive and ‘accessible for all’ ethos of Girls Rock Glasgow kindled my immense passion for contributing to organisations who support a positive future for marginalised children and families.
