I am a qualified primary school teacher with over 12 years experience working with children from 4 to 11 years of age, with knowledge, skills and experience in teaching across the primary age range.
Since qualifying as a primary school teacher, I have been providing private tuition for children across the early years and primary school age range. On occasions, the tuition has been in preparation for entry exams, however I have also been requested to deliver general intervention sessions to help close the gap in children’s learning.
As a dedicated and motivated person, I hold strong morals and believe that it is important that these are held from a young age. For example, the importance of encouraging self-confidence, honesty and being trustworthy, leads to resilience, motivation and creating good moral citizens.
I enjoy doing regular charity work and helping vulnerable children. For example, I volunteered at The Harley Street Clinic Children's Hospital, helping sick children with fun, educational activities.
As a passionate teacher, my aim for success is embedding a curiosity and love for learning that I hope children will continue to enjoy throughout their lives.
Having completed a Bachelor of Education, I am currently a member of the extended leadership team within a London primary school. In addition l am the subject leader for History, Geography, Art and Computing.
In the past I authored a series of ‘Skills for Life’ books for Key Stage 1, i was fortunate to experience different learning styles within a certain age group. I now use these approaches in my class and during my private tuition lessons.
My extensive experience with children who have learning difficulties including autism, global delay and dyslexia; has taught me to use a holistic approach, providing individualised care to cater for children’s needs. I believe it is important to promote confidence within the child to encourage independence and allow them to take control of their own learning.
My other endeavours include understanding the importance of engaging and stimulating more able/gifted children, by ensuring they are challenged during tasks. Often encouraging gifted and talented children to think outside the box.
Furthermore, I have taught Year 2 for a number of years, with SATs results averaging over 90% in Reading, Writing and Maths. I have also achieved the same positive results when teaching the Phonics Screening test.
