My Summary
About Me
Thank you for viewing my profile, I moved to Sandhurst from Finchampstead in June 2024 and I have been lucky enough to keep some of my existing families and have already had four lovely local families join me. I will have spaces available from September 2026.
I live with my partner and have two children of my own aged 18 and 20 (all DBS checked and all pay a yearly subscription for the update service) I haven’t been able to upload my DBS certificate to my profile, however all DBS certificates are kept in a file and can be viewed at the setting.
Part of my weekly routine is to attend two local toddler groups, we visit the library and attend a yoga class that the children all love. I will continue to visit Finchampstead as well as exploring the activities available in Sandhurst. I plan both art & craft and sensory activities each week to suit individual interests and to fit in with seasons or festivals. I find this is a fun way to provide the children with a broad understanding of the world around them. I have a wide range of carefully thought out resources for both preschool and school age children that are rotated on a regular basis.
We spend as much time as possible in the garden where there is a variety of ride on toys, pop up tunnels available to crawl through and games around the garden to encourage the children to throw bean bags into holes and velcro balls to hit the numbers on the target board, developing both number and physical skills. There is also sand and water play available, the water play area has scooping and fishing toys available and is always popular, along with the mud kitchen that is a winner and is usually being used to cook up a treat such as acorn and herb soup! We often do our craft activities outside such as mark making with paints and rollers, pasta painting and an easel available for experimenting with different coloured paints, pens and the giant chalks are often requested to produce beautiful art work on the ground!
One of the most rewarding times of the year for the children are when we order some caterpillars and watch therm grow each day and move them into a butterfly garden net where they eagerly wait for them to change into butterflies! They feed them fruit and nectar every day and release them which is always a magical experience! The children enjoyed it so much this year so we did it twice!
We have day trips out to places such as Jakes Farm, The Look Out discovery Centre and Lockey Farm. We also regularly visit the fish at the garden centre and feed them. I find different parks and woodland places to visit throughout the year and we talk about the different seasons and the children often come home with a bag of ‘treasures’ they have picked up along the way that usually end up in the mud kitchen! We also visit the garden centre in the school holidays as they provide excellent planting and painting sessions for the children.
Breakfast, a hot lunch and light tea are provided (included in the daily charge) social skills are encouraged whilst sitting at the table at meal times, taking turns at circle time where the children choose songs and a prop to hold and also giving the children an opportunity to talk about an interest or special event in their lives. I review the children’s development on a regular basis and have next steps in mind for each child individually to ensure they are reaching their full potential and they have adequate resources around then to feed their imaginations and interests. My motivation is to give each child the best start in life by providing as many opportunities and as much guidance as I possibly can while providing a home from home experience.
