Our Summary
About Us
At Lynwood Day Nursery, we have always believed that there is nothing children cannot
achieve in life and can be whatever their little hearts’ desire, once they are allowed to be themselves first.
Established in 1989, as the first private day nursery in the Furness area, Lynwood was set up to meet the needs of young children and their parents seeking the highest quality of childcare.
The aim was to provide a safe, happy and caring environment in which children can thrive and develop. With individual care and encouragement, we support and motivate each child in building up their self-confidence and independence whilst offering a stimulating and enabling environment to learn and play.
We believe that children benefit from homely surroundings rather than from the traditional “classroom” environment of a nursery because these early years are such a special time in their lives and being with devoted, passionate and qualified practitioners will assist their learning journey.
In order to provide professional, caring and high quality child care and teaching, we work with a majority all qualified and experienced staff meaning all of our staff have a level 3 or above qualification.
Maybe that is the reason why our fees are slightly higher then other settings in the area, but we believe that it is the skilful practitioner who makes the difference in the child's life.
We do accept apprentices and trainees, but they will always work alongside our qualified members of staff.
That is the Lynwood Difference!
All of our staff are 1st Aid trained and underwent an EpiPen training so we are familiar of working with children with severe allergies. For us this is the essence of an inclusive setting.
Come and have a look around - we are looking forward to meeting you!

My daughter went to this nursery and left in Sep 2018 because she had to go to school.
I can only recommend Lynwood. The staff are so lovely and truly care about the children. The setting as such is not the newest, I must say. The building used to be a shop years ago so it is a bit quirky.
However, I think it is a very homely setting. It feels like you walk into someone else's house and I like that.
My daughter is very lively and I like the fact that it is not too school orientated as I believe the children go to school at a very young age and when they are so little they need to play.
the baby room was renovated last year I think and it looks nice and cosy. Not the biggest area but still I get a very warm feeling and again it is because of the staff.
I like the fact that they have lot of experienced and older staff most of them have their own children and that makes them so caring. When I went to other nurseries, they worked a lot with trainees and only one qualified staff. I think children at that age need skilful nursery nurses.
The prices are a bit higher then at other nurseries but you get what you see. And I rather pay a bit more knowing that someone with passion and experience looks after my daughter then paying less and only young trainees are in charge. Two directors are teachers as well and you can see that the teaching is important at Lynwood.
For everyone who is looking for a homely, loving and caring nursery, I would definitely look at Lynwood and I believe once you have met the staff, you will be convinced.
