About Me

Hello! My name is Anita. I’m 30 years old and lived in Norway all my life before I moved to the UK in March of 2017. I greatly enjoy working with children, utilising the knowledge and experience gained from my Diploma, covering Child Care and Youth Work, a 2 year examination study followed by a 2 year test and qualification period.

While living in Norway I worked as a teaching assistant at a primary school in Aalesund, in the fjords on the West coast. I’m very dedicated to children and find great happiness helping them develop and thrive.

I’m always working to further improve my English, which living in the UK has helped with greatly! If you are a Norwegian-British family it is a big plus!

My Experience

In the summer of 2015 I received my diploma/certificate as a Child Care and Youth Worker after 2 years of dedicated studying, training and examination, followed by 2 years of monitored qualification work to demonstrate competence in the field. I’m very dedicated to my work and always give 100% of my effort.

Child Care, Babysitting and teaching Norwegian (Farnham, United Kingdom)
(October 2018 - December 2019)
Helping to care for two children in the Farnham area. The family is half Norwegian and the parents were very interested in making sure their children could speak the language from a young age. In addition to this, I help to care for, and babysit, the children when required.

Actively practicing English in the UK
(March 2017 - Present)
Moved from Norway to the UK in order to improve my English by actively living in an English-speaking country, supported by my boyfriend who has grown up in Farnham. I have discovered, in a good way, that there is a different learning curve between “School English”, and English that is learned by living in another country. While living here, I have completed an interactive English course, a pioneering new way of learning, making everything more natural and less theoretical.

Aalesund Municipality - Extracurricular Support Worker (Aalesund, Norway)
(April 2016 – March 2017)
Accompanying a child with learning and social difficulties during evenings. This work included spending time alone with the child while helping to reduce social anxiety by doing “day to day” activities like homework, swimming, cinema visits, bowling etc.

Aase Primary - Teaching Assistant & Extracurricular support (Aalesund, Norway)
(September 2015 – March 2017)
On call substitute at a primary school, supporting the children and staff where required. Helping with many daily activities and having responsibility for the children’s welfare. Also very active in resolving conflicts between children when required.

Kvam Nursery - Trainee Child Care & Youth Worker (Molde, Norway)
(July 2015 - August 2015)
Responsible for the welfare of children when they were approaching the end of their time in the nursery and were starting primary school in the autumn. Responsible for designing, planning and following through activities with the children. This was part of a trainee period for the diploma (“Fagbrev”).

Kvam Primary - Trainee Child Care & Youth Worker (Diploma Examination) (Molde, Norway)
(June 2015 – July 2015)
Diploma examination undertaken while working with year 1 children. This examination contained a written module, a practical examination, and an oral examination. The examination also included a compulsory self-critique section for self-evaluation. This was part of a trainee period for the diploma (“Fagbrev”).

Bekkevoll Secondary - Trainee Child Care & Youth Worker (Molde, Norway)
(February 2015 – May 2015)
Working mainly with year 8 and year 9 children with learning difficulties on a one-to-one basis to help with development. I also worked in the classroom as a teaching assistant. During this time I studied books in my free time to learn the best way to help children with special requirements, in particular one child with autism who required help to keep up with the progress of other children. This formed part of a trainee period for the diploma (“Fagbrev”).

Kvam Primary - Trainee Child Care & Youth Worker (Molde, Norway)
(August 2014 – January 2015)
Following up with children when required and planning/running activities with groups of 5-6 children at a time. This was part of a trainee period for the diploma (“Fagbrev”).

Kvam Nursery - Trainee Child Care & Youth Worker (Molde, Norway)
(August 2013 – August 2014)
Start of the 2 year trainee period to achieve the diploma as a Child Care and Youth Worker. This section involved showing that I was able to connect with children, play with them and occupy them with constructive activities. Once the initial evaluation was complete, I was given responsibility to plan and follow up activities with the children in groups of up to 6, alongside my tutor evaluating me for the diploma. I stressed importance that the activities should be relevant to - and suitable for - the season. For example, at Christmas we would collect pine cones to create traditional Christmas tree decorations. Being outdoors wherever possible is very beneficial for learning.
