My name is Katie and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder located in the Goodrington, Paignton area. The house is situated 5 minutes walk from Roselands Primary School and a 20 minute walk from White Rock Primary School (6 min drive).
I live with my husband and my daughter who will be 4 in October 2025.
I provide a home from home experience for your baby/ child in the sense of an extension of your parental care, by providing a happy, nurturing, clean and secure environment. I have been a Childminder for nearly 6 years now and I received my first Ofsted graded inspection of GOOD in July 2022.
I previously worked as a Childminder in Solihull and moved back to my hometown Paignton, Devon in September 2023 and have my setting up and running in Devon. I absolutely love the area as we have the beach close by, parks, zoo, farm and woods to play at. We go on the bus and I also use my car to travel out further.
I hold Ofsted recognised qualifications for childminding and ensure that the children engage in a wide range of activities over the course of their week following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines. I do craft activities, sensory play, baking, play in the garden and I also have lots of age-related toys which are safety checked and cleaned on a regular basis. Other activities include: jigsaw puzzles, copying words/ writing practice, nursery rhyme singing and story time. I ensure I update toys and activities to suit the childrens’ interests, learning and development.
I have a designated play room with access to a secure garden to allow for free flow of indoor and outdoor play. I also have a downstairs toilet. The enclosed garden includes numerous outside equipment such as a playhouse, climbing frame, slides, tricycles, little tike cars, water tray and sandpit.
I often take the children out for walks and we have outings to the park, beach, play areas, library, zoo, farm and Forest School.
I ensure I keep up to date with my safeguarding and paediatric first aid training. I have childcare insurance with Coram PACEY which is an organisation that ensures quality assurance.
I can provide all meals for a small extra charge. I have experience catering for milk, soya, gluten and nut allergies, including other dietary requirements such as vegan, vegetarian and halal. Meals can include breakfast, snack, a home cooked meal for lunch, dessert and tea.

My Experience
I have worked as a Childminder for nearly 6 years now. I also have a variety of experience of working with both children and adults, including those with mental health difficulties, physical and learning disabilities. I have enjoyed all of my roles which included being an Assistant Psychologist, an Assistant Childminder, a Teacher Assistant, Specialist Carer Worker, Youth Worker, Children support worker at a domestic violence refuge, a Carer/ Support Worker for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities. I am more than happy to discuss more about my experience with you.
My Qualifications
- Level 3 CPD Accredited Ofsted Recognised Childminding Course which covered all Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

- Paediatric First Aid
- Food Hygiene
- Psychology Degree
- Level 2 in Adult Numeracy
- BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care which included placements in childcare settings and assignments in childcare and child development.

I offer the Government Funded places for 9 months +, 2, 3 & 4 year olds (15 and 30 hour entitlement).
I am also registered on the Tax free childcare scheme.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
If you would like your child / children to have meals at the setting, the costs are below:
Breakfast (before 9am) - includes cereal, milk & fruit - 50p
Snack (10am)- includes rice cakes/ crackers / toast/ breadsticks with dip/ hummus with veg or salad & fruit - 50p
Depending on plans for the day we either have a hot meal at lunch or a tea type lunch.
Lunch (around 12pm)- hot meal includes protein, veg / salad, carbs such as fish pie, roast dinner, spaghetti bolognaise, cottage pie, curry, stew etc & a milk based dessert - £2.50
Or - ham, cheese, Tuna or chicken sandwich/ wrap, selection of mixed fruit, salad and yogurt - £2.
Tea (around 3:30/4) includes crumpets/ toast/ bagel / crackers with a source of protein and selection of fruit £1.50
Total for day is £5 or £4.50 depending if had hot meal.
I will only charge for those meals that are prepared for and offered to your child.
Alternatively you may wish to bring a packed lunch/ meals for your child.

Katie is an amazing childminder. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control our little one was only with Katie for a short period of time but he absolutely thrived in her care. He enjoyed days out with Katie to forest school which he loved and lots of exciting activities with Katie at home. She treated Freddie like her own and made a home from home environment for him, it made my return to work post maternity leave so much easier knowing he was in safe hands.
We have baby no 2 on the way and we are hoping Katie has some availability for when this little will need childcare. Would recommend her to anyone!

A truly great childminder is hard to find, difficult to part with and impossible to forget.
Katie helped our daughter grow from a quiet 23 month old baby to a happy, outgoing rising 3 year old.
Our daughter has been with Katie, for a school year (9 months) 2 days a week from 08.30 - 4.30pm and always came home wanting to return!
Katie is fantastic at Arts and Crafts, we are always amazed at how imaginative the works of art are that were sent home. She is super thoughtful and we were delighted to receive a mixture of Easter, Valentines, Birthday and Christmas cards, cakes and presents (appropriate to the time of year) for my husband and I packaged up from our daughter.
Most weeks Katie took our daughter to Forest school which was a great hit! Other outings have included a beach day, library visits for a sing-along classes, a local farm with a great playground.
Katie regularly does baby / toddler yoga with them, and sings with the children giving them different instruments to use.
We were always updated regularly throughout the day with whatsapp pictures, photos of what was offered and eaten and sleep times etc.
My daughters days were filled with a mixture of developmental tasks and free play.
Katie is kind, nurturing, thoughtful, patient, caring and so much more providing a home-from-home and any child in her care is extremely lucky.

Katie looked after my son and daughter from 8 months old; my son for 4 years and my daughter for 2 years.
Katie offers a truly warm, compassionate home from home in which my children have truly thrived. She has helped mould them into polite and clever little people. I thought I would struggle finding someone I trusted to care for my babies when I returned to work, but it was apparent very quickly that I had nothing to worry about with Katie. I’m so sad she has moved on to a new area, but any children in her care will be very lucky!
