My Summary
About Me
Hello my name is Megan Carter I trained at Norland college for years between 2019-2022 and I have achieved a BA Honors in early years and development.
I am a fun bubbly individual who cares for children and i am passionate about helping children grow and develop through play, effective communication and learning about the world.
My Experience
- September 2022 to Current- Completing my Newly qualified nanny year in London Islington and staying on afterwards.
I had a wonderful NQN year working for a family with a baby boy who was 7 months old when I started. I then decided to stay on, and the family had another child in April 2024. I have enjoyed watching the eldest grow into a toddler and planning lots of activities that promote his development such as painting and have enjoyed taking him on day trips such as London zoo and soft play. When the younger sibling came along, I enjoyed the transition of working with a toddler and a baby and helped with further transitions such as bottle feeding, changing nap times and providing nutritious meals.
-October 2021- night nannying in somerset for a 3-month-old baby. This provided me with a unique opportunity which allowed me to develop my skills when working with new-borns and has gained me more experience about working with children throughout the day and night. The duties that I carried out include bottle feeding, nappy changing, soothing and caring for her throughout the
-July 2021- nannying for a family in bath with 3 children aged 7, 2 and 4 months.
Last summer I had the opportunity to work for a family with 3 children. This was a fun experience and enabled me to create a stimulating environment enrich with play opportunities. I was also able continue developing my cooking skills and provide healthy meals for the children. I was also able to develop my skills with formula feeding and nappy changes and provided activities for a range of age groups.
night.
- January 2021- July 2022: part time nursery worker at a nursery in Bath aged 4 months to 5 years with an afterschool club with children aged 5- 10
During half term and free time at Norland, I work at a local nursery where I help to build children’s confidence and self- awareness. I have planned activities and led trips such as going on a walk to see the farm animals and worked in the nursery kitchen preparing nutritious meals. It has also enabled me to develop a strong sense of teamwork through the ability to work efficiently with others in a busy environment.
-July 2018- volunteering at a Children’s summer camp in West Sussex aged 6 to 14 years. For 5 days in the summer holiday, I helped out with activities such as archery, kayaking and bike riding. I also ensured that I was comforting the children if they were home sick and also helping prepare nutritious breakfast lunch and dinner. I also learnt how to lead small groups of children and how to communicate with them at an appropriate level such as understanding the difference between talking with children at the age of 6 and the age of 14.
June 2019 august 2021- part time Nursery worker at local nursery for children aged 9 months- 5 years
Throughout my time there I helped to plan fun activities such as messy play and encouraged outdoor play by overseeing the forest school area. I also spent a lot of time in the baby room helping with nappy changes, feeding, playing and sleep routines.
-March 2018- July 2019- Brownie leader at a local girl guiding institute for children aged 7- 11 by volunteering as a brownie leader to help and encourage children to participate in activities such as cake making, drama, games as well as working outdoors and making bonfires. From this experience, I have learnt the importance of safety instructions as I risk assess each activity for any dangers that the children may face, ensuring they remain safe while learning and having fun.
-April 2017 to June- 2018- Volunteered at a local nursery for children aged 18 months up to school age. For one evening a week after school and during the school holidays I worked with children at a nursery. This involved learning to plan activities and develop children’s fine and gross motor skills which will help with their future development. I also had fun getting to know all the children’s different personalities.
May 2017- December 2020- babysitting for two families with children aged 6 months and 5 years, 6 years, 10 and 12 years. During the school holidays I babysat for a local family in the evenings on a farm and one in a local town. This was a great experience and provided me with lots of skills such as looking after the children outdoors and maintaining safety whilst still ensuring I provide a good bedtime routine.
