About Me

My family and I live on our farm in Cossington. We are a working farm that produces beef, so there are always plenty of tractors, hay bales and calves to see. We also keep a variety of other animals including: chickens; pheasants; peacocks; geese; ducks; rabbits and goats, so children will have many opportunities to get stuck in with feeding the animals and collecting eggs! Living on a farm means we have lots of fantastic outdoor spaces, and that we spend a great deal of time outside. As well as the large garden (which contains a mud kitchen area, a two storey playhouse, a climbing frame and swings), we also keep a small vegetable patch and greenhouse in our orchard, where children can help grow their own fruit and vegetables throughout the year, and get involved with apple and blackberry picking in the autumn. We regularly keep our sheep in the orchard, especially during lambing time, so little ones will get to have cuddles with the lambs as well as help to bottle feed the orphans.

Inside, we keep a dog, two cats and two rats as well as two boys (when they’re not at school). The children in my care will have access to two playrooms - stocked with a variety of toys and games - and use of the open-plan kitchen for meal times and messy activities, including: baking; arts and crafts and painting.

I deliver the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage to all children in my care and focus on the seven areas of development:
Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the world
Expressive Arts and Design

I provide a wide range of experiences in the form of interactive, fun and challenging activities, tailored to each child’s interests, to enable children of all backgrounds and abilities to develop and learn through play, in a caring, supportive and happy environment. Part of our daily routine will include using the different outdoor spaces for activities such as; den building, egg collecting, gardening and feeding the animals. We will also go on regular outings to visit the farm and surrounding countryside, local parks, the Quantocks and National Trust locations.

My Experience

I am a qualified primary school teacher and have spent 11 years teaching many year groups across KS1 and KS2. I loved my job and found supporting children as they grow and develop extremely rewarding, but felt it was time for a change. Three years ago I made the bold move to leave the teaching profession and set up on my own, with the aim to provide high-quality, fun and educational childcare for 1-8 year olds, from my family home.

I also have 2 children of my own (a 7 and 9 year old), so I've had lots of practise looking after small people!

My Qualifications

I have all the required qualifications for childminding including a Paediatric First Aid Certificate and a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.

My Availability

Childcare is available Monday-Friday during term-time, and is open from 07.30 – 18.00. Additional hours may be made available during school holidays, if required. I charge £6 per hour.

My Fees

Millmoot’s Little Boots operates a service which is fair and competitively priced. I aim to offer a high quality, safe and stimulating environment that provides a service that is good value for money.

Millmoot’s Little Boots does accept the Early Years Funding for 3 and 4 year olds (15 and 30 hours) and qualifying 2 year olds. It is our policy to support parents/carers by offering the Early Years Entitlement flexibly, either as stand-alone sessions (Early Years Entitlement-only) or as part of a broader booking pattern (additional fee-paying hours). Please note though that in order to do this sustainably, I have to limit how many term time only places I provide. Accordingly, I am only able to offer one funded place a day.
