About Me
We are looking for someone used to working with SEND children to come in a few hours every week (Monday to Thursday, although I reckon the bulk of hours would be in Thursday and Tuesday) and look after our 5-year old boy, Ayden.
He's home schooled and diagnosed with sensory autism level 2. I am working from home and his dad is now looking for a job (so far he has been the one doing the home schooling), so I would need someone to come in and stay with our little boy while I am in meetings etc. once every 4 months I might be travelling into the office in Leicester, so those might be the odd days when you will be with our son at home for an entire day 8am to 4pm.
Ayden is quite easy going as long as he is involved in activities. He's been non verbal until few months ago, now he can say words, sometimes full sentences and quite often goes around the house humming songs. Potty training is still in progress.
Loves music and dancing, plays his little guitar and his electronic piano, also enjoys water play, doing insert puzzles, pretend play. We have got him plenty of puzzles, books, sensory toys etc and he has a tent in his room and blackout curtains, for those rare moments when he's overwhelmed. Since being home schooled, he's barely had any meltdowns, maybe once every 2 weeks and they usually last a couple of minutes.
Our garden has a swing, slides and trampoline and he's very confident using them, but needs supervision.
My Requirements
We would like support from someone who is used to working with SEND children, maybe who could help progress with potty training and who can be patient with our son. He understands everything that we say, helps with small things in the house, even though he only talks when he wants to. He's a very positive and happy child, who loves cuddles once he gets used to a person, but most things that involve learning and progressing, he does them on his own terms and when he wants and we would like someone who can understand and be patient with him.
