Part Time Nanny With Special Needs Experience Job In South Derbyshire
About Me
I am a single mum of a special needs boy who is 6 and a half and home schooled. I am working from home while home educating him, and I am looking for someone used to working with SEND children to come in a few hours every week (flexible between Monday to Thursday, although I reckon the bulk of hours would be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays).
I would need someone to come in and look after my son while I am in meetings etc., also once in a while I might have to travel into the office in Leicester, so those might be the odd days when you will be with my son at home for an entire day 8am to 5pm. There is no need to cook for him, I always stock on his favourite snacks and foods and he has access to the pantry and fridge.
There is no need for outside trips or going to the park, our home has all the necessary SEND adaptations and we have a secure and fully enclosed and private back garden. He is only used to me taking him out and will completely refuse to get into any other car than mine.
My son, Ayden, is quite easy going and full of energy. He has only started talking 1 year ago, now he can make full sentences and have simple conversations about preferences, tasks, routines etc. It might take him a bit to open up to new people and initiate communication.
Toilet training is still in progress.
Loves music and dancing, plays his little guitar, does puzzles, can do basic word writing and spelling, basic maths, labyrinth puzzles, dot-to-dot. He also has specific interests such as taking apart and "repairing" watches and clocks, old electronic devices etc, and that's where he needs a lot of supervision, because of the small parts he's handling. He also loves typing emails and getting help with his spelling and making more complex sentences.
We also have 2 senior cats who are indoors-only, and who have helped him a lot in managing his emotions.
My Requirements
I would like support from someone who is used to working with SEND children, maybe who could help progress with toilet training and who can be patient with our son. He understands everything that we say, helps with small chores in the house and can verbalise his needs. He's a very positive and happy child, who loves cuddles once he gets used to a person, but most things that involve learning and progressing, he does them on his own terms and when he wants and we would like someone who can understand and be patient with him.
