About Me

**please note, although I am given a response time that might not be immediate, I am working with children Monday to Friday, and my phone is not a priority. I spend evenings and weekends doing admin and replying to messages, so please bear with me.

Hello, I'm Samantha, and I have worked in childcare for over 17 years.

I am very organised, friendly, and professional. I always put the care of the children first.

For 10 years, I have worked as a nursery manager, and after this, an after school club manager working in Edinburgh nurseries of up to 76 children and managing after school clubs and holiday clubs with up to 60 children. This has given me a great ease of working as a childminder and with such personal numbers.

I have experience working with children and staff working towards the curriculum for excellence, using building the ambition paperwork and the 0-3 framework. I have been involved in many inspections; my most recent grades are 5's with the care inspectorate.

I have lots of experience in big childcare settings, and I'm now taking this knowledge and implementing it into my childminding services. I really feel that with the right amount of love, care, and education, your child will have all the fun whilst learning in a positive and easy-going environment. A home away from home!

My passion for children's learning and development is what drives me, I have completed many qualifications in children's learning and development and really enjoy using my knowledge to use in my work each day and to support your child in their learning journey.

I love setting up play and opportunities for the children I look after. I have built amazing mud kitchens and set up beautiful playrooms and activities for the children that I look after. Play is at the forefront of everything we like to do here and watching children playing and engaging with different age groups, and each other is lovely to see. I also spend a lot of time outside, and I'm not afraid of adventure with the children in my care. Regular trips to the woods, beaches, and pentlands keep us all happy and smiling.
more about me.....

I am a mother to two children aged 17 and 2. We love to spend time outside together, and my eldest daughter enjoys playing her cello and bass guitar to us all. She recently achieved 13 A's and is applying to universities to study medicine in 2022.

We live in the Dalry area of Edinburgh and have a large back garden with lots of resources and access to local parks, too.

Each week, I visit local amenities such as local music classes at the Salvation Army, libraries, the farm, and parks rotating weekly.

I use learning journals to track and monitor your child's learning and development. Learning journals is an interactive app where we can both upload images , learning, and next steps. it's also a great way for you to see what we are up to each week

Paperwork can be seen upon request - PVG check, registration paperwork, etc.

Please note that the 4-week deposits are due for all starting children.

Our little one needed some experience of childcare after being in lockdown and only having us looking after him. We didn't want to send him off to school nursery without any preparation, so Samantha agreed to help get him ready for the experience and gave great advice on what we could teach him to help him get more used to the idea. By the end of his sessions he was super comfortable being dropped off and always had exciting things to tell us about what he got up to. Really glad Samantha was flexible about taking him on and putting in the extra work to help him understand what was needed of him.

We started our 20-Month old son with Samantha during lock down and he loved it so much we decided to keep him there instead of going back to nursery. Samantha welcomes the children into her home and makes sure they feel so comfortable. She is full of ideas for activities, both indoors and outdoors. She makes lovely home cooked meals too! We love how well she keeps in touch with us during the day too, always sending photos and videos so we know what our son is up to. We recommend Samantha very very highly!!

Samantha did an excellent job of taking care of my children. They absolutely loved spending time with her and were both very well looked after. Samantha made them both feel at ease and fed them healthy good food. She was especially good at caring for my 7 month old girl.
We highly recommend Samantha

Thank you for your lovely words Vikki, I'm glad that I could help you all out over this summer and that the children settled so well and had such a good time.

Samantha is a brilliant childminder. She has provided a safe and enjoyable environment for our son. each week he looks forward to going there and meeting with his new friends. He has settled in very quickly and enjoys all activities within his little group. He has great routine in there, naps and eats well. We are feeling comfortable while our boy is there. Samantha keeps us updated by sending us pictures and videos. I know he is under good care and have lots of fun.

Thank you Anna for these lovely words.

The house was always full of giggles and fun whenever I cared for your son and he had such a good time. He loved to take part in activities and play outside and go on adventures with us.

I look forward to meeting up for a coffee and cake when your new baby is here x
