About me
I have almost 20 years of experience working with early years and primary-aged children, for 10 of these years I worked as a nursery manager, and after this, an after-school club manager working in Edinburgh nurseries of up to 76 children upto 30 staff and managing after-school clubs and holiday clubs with up to 60 children. This has given me great ease of working as a childminder and with such personal numbers.
I have experience working with children and staff working towards the curriculum for excellence, using building the ambition paperwork and the 0-3 framework. I have been involved in many inspections; my most recent grades are 5's with the care inspectorate within a nursery environment.
I have lots of experience in big childcare settings, and I'm now taking this knowledge and implementing it into my childminding services. I really feel that with the right amount of love, care, and education, your child will have all the fun whilst learning in a positive and easy-going environment. A home away from home!
My passion for children's learning and development is what drives me, I have completed many qualifications in children's learning and development and enjoy using my knowledge to use in my work each day and supporting your child in their learning journey.
I love setting up play and opportunities for the children I look after. I have built amazing mud kitchens and set up beautiful playrooms and activities for the children that I look after. Play is at the forefront of everything we like to do here and watching children playing and engaging with different age groups, and each other is lovely to see. I also spend a lot of time outside, and I'm not afraid of adventure with the children in my care. Regular trips to the woods, beaches, Edinburgh zoo, the dell and Pentlands keep us all happy and smiling.

I am a mother to two children aged 18 and 4. We love to spend time outside together, and my eldest daughter enjoys playing her cello and bass guitar to us all. She recently achieved 13 A's and is studying medicine at Edinburgh University. My husband and I recently celebrated 15 years of marriage.
We live in the Dalry area of Edinburgh and have a large back garden with lots of resources and access to local parks, too. I also have a dedicated playroom for the children in my care fitted out with resources, climbing apparatus, play kitchen, tables and seats, etc
WE ALSO HAVE A MEMBERSHIP FOR EDINBURGH ZOO attending each at least once a month.

Please note that the 4-week deposits are due for all starting children.

Samantha helped me out with care for my baby girl when the nursery she was going to shut down with not enough notice time. My lo had no issues adapting to the setup.
Samantha is warm and friendly and she keeps the number of kids in her care to only around 4 at a time, so that she can give her best to all of them. So refreshingly different from the nursery setup! She keeps the kids occupied with a ton of activities, both indoor and outdoors. Overall, definitely recommend her!

Samantha has been looking after my daughter for 2 days a week since she was 10months old. As a first time mum with a very clingy baby I was apprehensive about the return to work. On the first meet however, Samantha scooped my daughter up and made her feel so comfortable. I knew it was a fantastic fit. Samantha provides timely updates throughout the day and really knows the children she cares for. My daughter always enjoys her time there and greets Sammantha with a big smile and hug at drop off. I couldn't have asked for more - thanks for everything!

Samantha took care of our son for a week while on a work trip to Edinburgh. We were worried about arranging childcare, however those worries very quickly disappeared. Samantha is fantastic! She constantly provides updates throughout the day, with what he ate/what he was doing/and how he is settling. Her home is lovely, with nice indoor and outdoor spaces, she makes tasty meals and snacks, and in general, he was extremely well taken care of. Our son is already looking forward to going to Samantha's again, and we highly highly recommend her to anyone who needs help with childcare!

Visiting Edinburgh from the U.S. with our 2 children (1y.o. and 2y.o.) and Edinbairns provided last-minute care for both that extended through the week of our stay. The kids absolutely loved it, and by the second day our 2y.o. was already excited to leave in the morning and wanted to stay and play longer at pick-up time. We were provided frequent updates on how they were doing, what they were eating, and received tons of pictures. Samantha was really wonderful with being flexible with our times, especially when we would get lost and would run a little late for pickup, and even gave us lots of recommendations for things to do and places to eat in Edinburgh during our 'child-free' hours. The kids were given nice balanced meals, and plenty of time of both inside and outside play, and generally had a fantastic time.

Our little one needed some experience of childcare after being in lockdown and only having us looking after him. We didn't want to send him off to school nursery without any preparation, so Samantha agreed to help get him ready for the experience and gave great advice on what we could teach him to help him get more used to the idea. By the end of his sessions he was super comfortable being dropped off and always had exciting things to tell us about what he got up to. Really glad Samantha was flexible about taking him on and putting in the extra work to help him understand what was needed of him.
