About Me
Working in a nursery gave me experience in caring for and providing educational activities for young babies to preschoolers within the criteria set out by The Department of Education. I gained my Level 3 Children’s Workforce and Educator Diploma while working there. Working with children in the foundation stage of their education I will incorporate the Montessori theory using everyday objects as teaching implements. I also like to incorporate the Forest School curriculum. I feel that the outdoors has lots of resources to build confidence and resilience in children. I can create activities and games to encourage mathematics and science learning. I enjoy creating inclusive activities and learning about different cultures and countries. One example of this is preparing and eating food from different countries.
Working in the social care setting gives you a greater sense of responsibility due to being a main carer. In this work, you are risk assessing continually. I am conscious of safety and prevent risk. However, I do believe in controlled risks for a child to strive and achieve. I understand the importance of imprinting and the continual provision of a safe nurturing environment. I am self-reflective in my practice and conscientious. I understand that each child is an individual with their own likes fears etc. I will adjust my working style to suit the children I’m working with.
My Experience
I have worked with children in many different settings from being a Newborn Nanny to a Residential Social Worker. I have worked as a Nanny with children from 6 weeks to 16 years old. I worked in a nursery for 3 years.
