Hello! My name’s Freya, I’m 23, and I live in the Silverknowes area of Edinburgh. I recently graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Strathclyde and have a real passion for working with children.
I’m patient, kind, and caring by nature, and I genuinely love spending time with little ones. I’ve always been fascinated by child development and hope to use my background in psychology to support young people in the future. I believe childhood is such a precious stage that shapes who we become as adults, so it’s incredibly important that children are surrounded by love, nurture, and opportunities to learn and grow.
I also understand the huge demands of parenting and how much parents juggle each day. Having some time back — whether for work, rest, exercise, catching up on jobs, or enjoying time together as a couple — can make such a difference. I aim to provide safe, reliable care so you can take that time knowing your children are happy and well looked after.
Some of my happiest moments have been rocking a baby to sleep in my arms or making children smile and laugh. Outside of childcare, I enjoy reading, music, and spending time outdoors.
My Experience
Over the past two years, I’ve worked for several families in Edinburgh as a nanny, caring for children aged between 6 months and 10 years. This has included:
6 months of full-time nannying (5 days a week) for a baby, supporting with feeding, sterilising bottles, preparing food for weaning, freezing meals, and establishing sleep routines.
A year of nursery pick-ups and after-school care, looking after children until their parents returned home, including snack prep, playtime, and winding down for the evening.
Looking after children of different ages during summer holidays, organising day trips, activities, and outings.
Evening babysitting, including bedtime routines so parents can enjoy a night out knowing their children are settled and cared for.
6 months working in a mother-and-baby home, supporting vulnerable mothers to care for their babies, build nurturing bonds, and develop parenting skills in a safe and supportive environment.
I’m also the eldest of four siblings and one of the oldest cousins in a large extended family, so I’ve been around and cared for children of all ages for as long as I can remember – from full-day care to overnight stays while parents are away.
I also spent six weeks volunteering with a charity in Fiji, caring for children from babies to teenagers.

My Availability
My availability is flexible, and I’m open to occasional babysitting or short-term childcare for the right family. This isn’t something I’m looking to do full-time, but I’m happy to see if I can help when needed – just send me a message to check my availability.
