About Me
Our 5-year-old son has been diagnosed with autism and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and will almost certainly receive an ADHD diagnosis when he is old enough for formal assessment. He is bright and curious, but struggles with school. He needs a gentle, highly flexible approach that follows his interests while building his confidence with school-related tasks.
My Requirements
I’m looking for a tutor to work with my 5-year-old son over the next three weeks to help prepare him for the start of the school year.
The main goals for these sessions are to:
- Reintroduce a light “school-type” routine after the holidays.
- Build his confidence with phonics, early reading, writing and number work.
- Help him catch up with his peers, as he has missed a lot of school due to dysregulated episodes and is currently behind in reading, writing, and slightly in maths.
- Do some “pre-learning” so that he is already familiar with topics before they come up in school, helping reduce stress and boost his confidence during lessons.
- Keep learning playful and stress-free so he feels positive about returning to school.
We would really love for him not only to catch up but also to feel well-prepared, so that school becomes a place where he can thrive rather than feel overwhelmed.
We are looking for someone patient, creative, and adaptable, with experience in supporting neurodivergent children (especially PDA and ADHD) and early years. Sessions would ideally be a few times per week in the morning at our home in Hartford, Northwich.
