My Experience

I have been working in childcare for 11 and half
Temporary Assistant Centre director, my role and responsibilities are helping run the nursery effectively in the absent of the manager, help liaising with parents, dealing with complaints, Admin side of the job is helping potential customers and customers in the setting already with day to day queries, financing and funding questions making sure our systems are up to date, I am also the Senior room manager of 2-3’s unit. My role is to manage my team and room effectively to create an enabling environment giving children the best start of life. It consists on planning, observing and assessing the children and staff’s development. Working closely with parents to ensure their children are safe and secure and are learning to the best of their ability. Making sure we follow the curriculum of EYFS and OFSTED expectations. I also work alongside the manager to ensure the nursery is running effectively, supporting the staff with their development and training, supporting new staff that comes and joins our team. Supporting the Manager with potential customers, showing off the nursery.
Safety Champion - My nursery which consists on managing medical conditions, creating care assessment plans for children and staff. Making sure staff follow the correct policies and procedures. Review and implement nurseries risk assessments. On a weekly basis I carry out regular fire alarm test, and emergency lights. Practice fire drills. Deal with contractor on site making sure correct paperwork is together. Accident and incident reports, verification supporting staff with their knowledge on health and safety offering guidelines if they are unsure.

Nursery SENCO - My role is to ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are fully included in the nursery environment and receive the appropriate support. To Liaise with parents and advise staff on best practices for supporting children with SEND. To make sure all staff are following and implementing the SEN policy. to offer guidance and support to all staff in following the graduated response in planning, assessing following through with strategies to help best support all children in reaching their full potential. Reviewing their work, and to see what works well and what could do differently. Working with outside professionals that offer support, marking and doing referrals for children.
