I am an Ofsted registered child-minder with a wealth of childcare experience and a proud mother of a beautiful daughter. Over many years, I have been fortunate to follow my passion of caring for, and working with, young children and enable them to develop themselves and their passions. Now I have taken the next step and together with Frankie, a fully qualified teacher (level 7), we have set up an unique child-minding setting in Guildford: Petit Pois.
Each child is unique and needs time to explore their surroundings at their own pace. We believe in a personal approach to each child, combined with a free play Montessori philosophy, daily outdoor adventures and exploration (weather permitting), a more structured approach to the educational elements of childcare and a healthy balanced diet are crucial to children’s wellbeing and development. Our focus is for each child to be introduced to the education elements in an interactive way, with the main objective being the child’s enjoyment. We have written a Scheme of Work specifically for the setting, which will ensure all areas of EYFS are being covered every term. The activities we plan are fully differentiated to each child in our setting, which will help each child reach their full potential. In addition, we will have monthly themes that the children will be able to explore in depth, such as Health, Occupations, Family, the Environment and many more. For each topic we will incorporate British Values as well as challenging stereotypes.
The setting monitors progress on Tapestry, which is a secure online Learning Journal used to record photos, observations, and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Tapestry is made accessible to parents and is a great tool to communicate the daily progress and experiences of each child. This will help us to better understand how we can differentiate activities to ensure maximum enjoyment whilst still enabling learning. To keep parents/carers up to date, a monthly newsletter will be produced which will have a retrospective view of what Petit Pois has been up to for the previous month, as well as a forward looking view of what’s to come.
For many years, I have been working with young children in the Guildford area. As well as working in childcare, I worked specifically as a live in nanny (including international travels), based in Hampshire and Gloucestershire, preluding becoming a proud mother of a beautiful daughter. My work has since evolved to childminding in Guildford. In addition to my childcare qualifications and experience, I am also a qualified Personal Trainer (with nutrition). I have been in an fortunate position to combine my experiences and skills and help children have an active and balanced approach, attributing to their physical, as well as mental (mindfulness) wellbeing.
Frankie is a fully qualified teacher (level 7) and also has a breadth of knowledge and experience of children with SEN, both in terms of working with SEN pupils in schools as well as on a personal level. Working with children with special educational needs requires both patients and resilience, but is also one of the most rewarding aspects of working in the education sector for her. Frankie is also a proud mother of two boys.

- Childminding from £7.00 per hour
We are open between 9am until 6pm, five days a week (Monday / Friday), at a cost of £63 a day. This cost is an all-inclusive cost and includes all food, nappies, wipes, but excludes formula. While parents are able to collect their child at whatever time they wish, we do encourage pick up after 5:30 to ensure the child is able to participate in all planned activities. We do offer an earlier drop off time if required (at an additional cost).
In case of any inquiries, please contact either myself or Frankie and we would be delighted to answer any questions and provide you with more details about Petit Pois.

2020 has been quite the year with a little boy coming into our world early January and the Corona pandemic that forced us to pivot on many plans, including our plans for childcare...but on the later we could not be happier.
Some friends of us recommended Jane and the connection between our son, Jane, Jason, their daughter and the whole setting was instant during our initial visit. He instantly was at ease and actually played, and was an extreme happy boy, for the whole 90 min while we just got to know Jane and the setting. This is all we needed to decide to trust Jane with the care of our little man....and we did not regret it one bit.
Jane's wealth of experience and knowledge, her natural connection with children, the personal attention, the diverse activities they do throughout the day, the strive to be outside and exploring the outdoors at least twice a day (weather permitting), the focus on a child's learning and developing new skills, all combined with Jane's never ending enthusiasm and love for what she does makes that our little boy really misses the days he is not with Jane and his friends. He is extremely happy with Jane and his friends and that is all what we, as parents, were looking for.
As parents, we value Jane's emphasis on healthy, freshly prepared and diverse meals and fruit / vegetable snacks our little boy enjoys every day in addition to the great communication throughout the day, that is also summarized in a daily report accessible via a secured website.
After sending my daughter to Jane I wouldn’t consider sending her to any other childcare, she gets so much more time and care than my eldest did. Variety of activities, healthy food(which always gets eaten) improved speech, better play and social skills. Lovely place, kind caring lady, very happy mum and child!
