My Experience

Experience with various manifestations of Neurodiversity.

I'm currently helping a lovely family 3 times a week. I've been with them.for over a year now. The little girl is 19 months old and her brother is 5 yrs old.

Beforehand, I worked for a lovely French -English family with 3 children (1, 3 and 5 yrs olds) in various capacities for 6 months.

The previous year I was entrusted with looking after a lovely, smart and creative 2 yrs old little American girl on a regular basis, during the day (lots of playing and fun at home and outdoors, in an allowing, enabling way, while also negotiating and upholding some necessary, clear boundaries for safety), and with occasional evening routines and sitting.

Also had a delightful summer experience , looking after a sweet little 15 months old Spanish girl on a daily basis for a month while daddy was at work and mum was at school. It was fascinating to be able to bond with her despite my limited Spanish (she wasn't quite speaking yet). It was incredible to witness again, how much can be communicated in other ways and how connecting and bonding is possible despite language differences.
This lovely encounter got repeated another summer - by then she' was over 2 yrs old and spoke a lot.

(NOTE: decades of in-depth research has shown that spoken language makes up only 7% of verbal human communication, the rest being all other nonverbal elements /vocal & visual/, and metacommunication).

Another, long term experience from recent years was looking after an adorable 10 weeks old baby boy. I accompanied his developmental journey for 2 years. He's grown and learnt so much! It has been such a pleasure and privilege to build a strong, safe, trusting and loving connection with him and spend time together.

Otherwise plenty of previous experience in general since teenagehood when I first started helping out at children's and youth events and camps, often working with older children and teenagers/ leading small groups.
My preferred way of building connections and enabling children is 1:1 though.

Also did babysitting for various families in different cultural settings over the decades.
Additionally worked as an AU PAIR for a lovely English family with 3 children.

At last but not least, love being an aunty to my fast growing nieces and nephew.

My Qualifications

University degrees in linguistics and oriental studies.
Also highly educated in music.
Several years of counselling training.
3 yrs of Psychology studies at CCCU
Additionally have completed a a 2 years in-depth Mindfulness Meditation training course.

Childcare wise diverse experience as described above, rather than paper based qualifications.

My Availability

Can be somewhat flexible, working around my study and job commitments.
WEEKENDS may be considered as well.

My Fees

• Babysitting from £19.00 per hour

The updated HOURLY RATE reflects the current economic climate, & also my personal level of education, knowledge and length & range of experience.
Negotiable within reason, depending on arrangement specifics.
Concession available based on individual circumstances.
Pls note that £12.40 is the announced UK Minimum Wage, from April 2025
