Full Time Nanny With Special Needs Experience Job In Great Shelford
About Me
Summer SEN Nanny (August) – Trumpington (CB2)
My Requirements
The Overview:
Location: Trumpington, Cambridge (CB2).
Dates: August 3rd – September 2nd (Monday to Friday).
Hours: 09:30 AM – 06:00 PM.
Role: 1:1 Support for our 8-year-old autistic son.
Household: Mum works from home; Adam has an older sister who will also be at home (though your focus is 1:1 with Adam).
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has SEN Experience: You have previous experience working with autism or special educational needs. You understand how to use visual supports (like "First/Then" boards) or are willing to learn quickly.
Is Safety-Conscious: This is the most important requirement. Adam has no understanding of danger and is a high flight risk. We are looking for someone vigilant who can provide constant supervision to ensure he doesn't leave safe areas or run toward roads.
Is Active & Energetic: Adam loves to move! We are looking for someone physically fit who enjoys jumping, climbing, and running around outdoors.
Is a Driver (Preferred): While Adam enjoys bus trips to the city, we are looking for someone with a full driving licence and their own car to make trips to soft play, parks, and days out easier and safer.
Is Patient & Fun: Adam is affectionate and happy. We are looking for someone who can match his joy and engage in his favourite sensory activities like water play, slime and sand.
Your Daily Responsibilities:
1:1 Supervision: Keeping Adam safe at all times, including monitoring him during messy play as he can sometimes try to mouth non-edible items.
Meal Preparation: Preparing simple, healthy lunches and snacks for Adam (and his sister). You will need to support him during mealtimes to ensure he eats well.
Outings: Taking Adam on adventures! This includes trips to the city centre by bus, visiting local playgrounds (like Trumpington Meadows), soft play centres, and splash pads.
Personal Care & Showering: Supporting Adam with his daily hygiene routine. Although he is toilet trained, he needs reminders to wash his hands. You will also need to help him shower and get changed (helping with buttons/zips etc.), particularly after swimming, messy play, or a long active day.
Communication: Supporting Adam’s communication. He is largely non-verbal and uses gestures, single words, and PECS (Picture Exchange) to show you what he needs.
Personal Care: Reminding Adam to wash his hands after the toilet and helping him dress/undress if you go swimming or get messy.
