About Me
My name is Paula, I am 35 years old, Portuguese-Brazilian and have a very calm and warm personality. I am passionate about Early Childhood Development and have studied about it over the past 10 years. I took courses on Physical, Cognitive and Psychomotor development, in LIU Post (Long Island University- NY - USA), and three postgraduation courses in Neuroscience at School, Bilingual Education and Montessori. I used to work as a Primary and pre-school teacher, but after working with babes I decided to persue my career as a maternity nurse and nanny. My hobbies are reading, swimming, Art, playing the piano and making new friends. As a nanny, I like to encourage children to be independent and confident to have autonomy in their daily life, while being there for them togive practical and emotional support. What I love the most about children is the curiosity they show about the world and everything around them and how funny, spontaneous and affectionate they can be :)
My Experience
I have a degree in Languages and Literature and Post Graduation in Neuroscience at Schoone in Bilingual Education and I am starting a new n in Montessori. In Brazil I used to work as a primary and preschool teacher. My first job as a nanny was looking after a 5 months old baby, because I wanted to add some practice to my studies at the time, which were on Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches. Then I moved to the USA where I worked as a nanny for two different families (2015-2017) and studied a bit more about Childhood Development. Back in my home country I was a tutor in the course of Pedagogy on the approaches on Emmi Pikler and Winnicott. I moved to London and had a great experience looking after two girls (3 and 5 years old) then after babies and toddlers, form birth to 5yo. All my roles as a nanny included taking children to classes, playgroups, preparing healthy meals (or weaning), potty training, engaging them in Educational Activities, and of course, playing :)
