Urgent Post for carer

We are looking for a fun, patient, calm and reliable carer to support and care for a 11 year old boy who has Cerebral Palsy and Autism. He is a full time wheelchair user and requires 1-1 support. He is a very happy and responsive child who enjoys social interaction and a lively stimulating environment.

A personal care assistant will need to have knowledge of hoisting, but training will be provided by the family around using the hoist.

The carer will help support The young male in routine tasks such as eating, dressing, washing, toileting, taking medicines as well as playing and interacting with activities and differing environments. He also needs support in managing his feelings, dealing with change and transition. We are looking for someone with some knowledge and insight to plan activities within the home environment along with taking the young male out and about giving him different experiences. The young male has a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle that can be used by the carer to transport the young man whilst out and about.

The carer will need to support the young male with transfers so that he can use the appropriate piece of equipment for the activity he is doing. On occasion the carer may be required to assist with some stretching exercises put In place by the physio.

The young man loves football and supports Chelsea FC. He also likes Super Mario brothers and has a very keen interest in video games. He loves playing on his iPad and Switch. Along with reading and listening to stories.

He also likes to go swimming, bowling, to the arcades and Sandworld. Along with going out for food especially cake or Ice-cream.

The family are looking for someone who can build a good relationship with the young male giving him good experiences and help develop his independence.

The hours consist of 10 hrs a month In term time and 12 hrs a week in the school holidays. These hours can be flexible and the family are happy to work with the carer to decide how to use these. With the occasional extra hours if needed.

Full Clean Driving license with no accidents or convictions within the last five years as dictated by the car Insurance company. However, not essential.
