Hello, my name is Kerry Wornell Levett, I am NNEB qualified (NVQ L3 equiv). I have been caring for other people's children for 29 years(!) I started my working life in 1992 as a Nanny working for some amazing families over the years, including a position at Benenden Girl's School and working for British Diplomats on a home posting. At the height of my career I interviewed for Jemima Khan and to care for the late Bobby Moore's Grandchildren. I decided on a slightly more down to earth position and worked my last 5 years as a live-in Nanny for a Baron between their houses in London, Kent and Scotland.
After having children of my own, I became a registered childminder. First and foremost though, I am a Mummy. I now know how hard it is for any parent to leave their precious little one and return to work. I like to think I support my parents as much as I can. I absolutely love my job, although they all seem to be growing up very quickly at the moment! While I would regard myself as a professional childcarer, I like to maintain a very relaxed 'home from home' environment for the children I care for. This is, in my opinion, the most suitable form of childcare for young children. We keep very busy with messy activities, cooking, singing, dancing and stories to name but a few. We regularly visit local parks, libraries and toddler groups. I have annual membership to Kent Life and we meet up with other childminders in the local area. Most importantly I give the children lots of love and pay attention to their individual needs and interests.
All pre school children have:
•Daily diary and photographs
•Bi-annual developmental review
•2 year old development check & transitional documents (EYFS requirement)
All of these are intended to be an informal two way flow of information between myself and parents which can be kept to look back on in years to come.
I accept childcare vouchers, am registered to receive tax free childcare and to provide funded hours for 2-year-olds in certain circumstances, 15 and 30 hours funding for 3 and 4-year-olds.
Some excerpts from my references:
'We can without a doubt say that she (Kerry) is one of the best things that has happened to our son but also to us as a family. We have a very busy work schedule and she has always been there for us and our son.
'When I had to go back to work I was so happy that Kerry would be looking after my daughter as I knew she would be well cared for in a loving, warm and happy 'home from home' environment.
My daughter never once didn't want to go to Kerry's. Even on school holidays I would ask her where she would like to go out for the day, and her reply would be to 'Kerry's'!'
'We were always very reassured by Kerry's flexibility and, most of all reliability which made my return to work much easier. Kerry never let us down with our son's care or changed plans at the last minute and I have always been able to contact her quickly whenever I've needed to'
'It is impossible to know how one's children would turn out under different circumstances, but the fact that ours are generally contented, affable and well behaved, whilst displaying their own individual characters, is, I am sure, a tribute to Kerry's influence. I have learnt a great deal from observing her with the children.'
'Kerry's performance has been particularly strong with our younger children for whom she has been a rock of stability and love, setting consistent limits for them but allowing them within those limits plenty of freedom to explore and grow.'
