About Me

Hello! My name is Leia, and I'm an experienced Home-schooling tutor. I have worked as a 1:1 home-schooling support tutor, and have worked as SEN support in a classroom for many years.

I make learning all about the student, and tailor the experience to their unique learning style.

I believe in being led by whatever interests your child and whatever it is that makes them excited to learn. I also believe in facing challenges in a different way, completely tailored to the needs and strengths of your child. Learning should be fun, full of interesting discussions and 'eureka' insights. Your child will already have completely unique skills and interests that need to be celebrated and brought into their education.
My teaching style is child-led, and I work very closely with parents to make sure that they are completely on board with everything that is being taught, and that we work as a team to bring out the best in your child's education. I believe in the power of giving them the confidence to be themselves, and to speak about their opinions and perspectives on the world around them.

I have worked with many SEN children in my time in the classroom and as a personal home-schooling educator, and I am dedicated to researching learning methods best suited to many forms of neurodivergence. The tutoring sessions will bring art, music, games, and dance activities into learning, completely depending on how your child loves to learn.

Whether you are looking for confidence building in certain skills and an understanding of working with neurodivergent children (such as Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Global Delay), full or part-time home-schooling online, or skill building focused on certain parts of your child's curriculum, I am available to help you make your child’s education something that they feel excited about.

This service is Primary age - 11. I am happy to arrange a free 15-minute phone call to discuss your child's needs and learning style, and whether tutoring is right for you and your family. To arrange this, please message me on this site.

My Experience

In 2019, I worked with the Miles Dyslexia Centre of Bangor University giving support to a young dyslexic girl each weekend. This was in the Welsh language, and I helped her with her phonics and created tasks to improve her literacy.

In 2019, I also volunteered with a arts and crafts club called 'splodge', which was an after school club for 6-8-year-olds.

I went on to work at a primary school in Hull as a teaching assistant. I supported classes from Year 6 (10-11-year-olds) to Year 1/2 (5-7-year-olds). In this role, I assisted a student with ASD-3 during our 'read, write inc.' sessions. They required 1:1 support in the classroom. I also support SEN children during interventions, creating games and tasks with the guidance of speech and language therapists to help them develop their use of language.

After this, I worked as a 1:1 SEN Support (Key Stage 1 age range) in a primary school in Wales, Bangor. In this role, I developed resources and activities to help students with a range of neurodiversity needs, such as autism, mutism, and global delay.

I have recently worked as a personal 1:1 homeschooling tutor for the past year (Key Stage 2 age range). This work led me onto the journey of giving families an additional choice of education and support for their children. From this experience, I gained knowledge on the power of giving students their own voice on the direction of their education, to follow their interests and develop their passions with guidance. I was also able to create many resources and activities from my experience, which I continually develop to help all tutees.
