About Me
I have been childminding since September 2021 and I really love my job.
I live in Barmoor with my husband and two children (aged 12 and 14). My whole family have been supportive of my career change and are really enjoying having little people back in our home. My daughter in particular loves the extra cuddles and 'helping’ with all things creative...
My aim has been to establish a small family setting for a limited number of Early Years children. Promoting emotional well-being, togetherness and friendship have been my priorities, creating a place where children can feel comfortable to snuggle down or explore with confidence. The children in my care form close bonds with each other and benefit from regular meet ups with other childminders and their mindees.
Children have supervised access to all areas of my home, just as members of my family do. We have an enclosed yard and garden for physical play, messy mud kitchen exploration and sand/ water play. Inside, I follow the children's interests through a range of activities including baking, construction, arts and crafts and loose parts play. Every day we sing, dance and read stories.
We are often out and about exploring our local community together, visiting play groups, parks, libraries and open spaces. Everything is within walking distance.
I had my first Ofsted inspection in July 2023 and I was graded Outstanding in all areas. I will share the full report to interested parents.
My Experience
I was a primary school teacher for 26 years, the last 10 years of which were in Nursery. I love the EYFS curriculum with it's focus on following the children's interests and learning through play. I never lost my love of teaching, but my focus now is on working with smaller groups, not 26 three year olds all at once!
My Qualifications
I am a qualified teacher P.G.C.E.
I have attended many training courses over the years from ASD Awareness and Launchpad for Literacy, to Forest School and Hygge in the Early Years.
KCSIE Level 1 Safeguarding Training.
Anaphylaxis and Epi Pen training.
Paediatric First Aid
Food Safety Level 2

I work Wednesdays to Fridays from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
