About Me
We’re a friendly family of four moving back to Winchester from London this summer and are looking for a kind, reliable and experienced after-school nanny to do pick up and help care for our two boys, aged 5 and 2.
We’ve had a nanny since our eldest was 11 months old and have built a really positive long-term relationship with her. We genuinely value our nanny and aim to be kind, fair, and respectful employers.
The boys are friendly and great company they play well together and independently and are generally a pleasure to be around.
My Requirements
Both children will attend school/nursery a 15-20min drive out of Winchester. We’re really hoping to find someone who would enjoy a long-term role, becoming a familiar and trusted presence for the boys.
This role would suit someone who’s comfortable with familiar routines and brings a calm, confident approach from experience.
The role
• School/nursery pick-up at 3.45pm
• Preparing and giving the boys dinner
• Helping with homework as appropriate (when needed!)
• Bath and bedtime depending on when we’re home
The boys are happy, settled children who sleep well, are toilet trained and have a good bedtime routine, which helps keep afternoons and evenings calm and enjoyable.
Hours:
• Monday & Thursday
• Pick-up at 3.45pm, finishing around 6–7pm (pick up time could be negotiated as we can cover some time with wrap around care at school)
• Assuming hours above, we would pay from 3pm to cover travel time and pay up to 7pm.
• It would be very unusual to need care until 7pm, but we will pay to reflect the level of availability
• Any time beyond 7pm would be paid as overtime
As we are both doctors, very occasionally work emergencies mean we may run a little late. This doesn’t happen often, but a bit of flexibility from time to time would be hugely appreciated.
There is also the option to extend hours for the right person, for light housekeeping, cooking meals for the children, ironing, or the boys’ laundry.
We would also welcome paid longer days during some school holidays, when we’re not ourselves on leave, away or supported by grandparents.
Our requirements:
• Warm, dependable and experienced with young children
• Enjoys a steady, calm role and is happy with familiar routines
• Own car and clean driving licence (car seats provided)
• Up-to-date DBS and paediatric first aid
• Ideally open to working some longer days in school holidays with sufficient notice (which would likely be Mondays/Thursdays/Fridays)
• Open, mutual and respectful communication around time off, with both sides giving as much notice as possible
• Ofsted registration is a bonus but not essential
• Ideally self-employed and managing your own tax
• Not looking to bring own children to work
Practical details
• Start: September in line with school year
• Ideally a few settling-in days during August to get to know each other
• Pay: Competitive and negotiable taking into consideration market rate, experience and suitability.
If this sounds like a role you might enjoy, we’d love to hear from you. CVs and questions very welcome!
