About Me

-University of Sheffield medical student, with a background of varied childcare experience, looking for ad hoc childcare/ babysitting
-First aid trained with St John Ambulance and as part of lifeguard training
-Full driving license and own a car

Hello! I'm Laura, a 22 year old, fourth year medical student looking to help out families in my local area. I grew up in Bristol, and spent a lot of evenings during my A levels (2017-19) babysitting for friends. I then moved to Sheffield to start medical school in 2019.

I am mature and responsible, and enjoy looking after younger children. I have two younger siblings who I have always loved spending time with. I'm energetic and caring, and enjoy hobbies such as running, ice skating, pilates, baking and playing the flute. I'm mindful about schedules and routines and very organised myself, and like to be busy.

I'm more than willing to help children of all ages with homework, up to GCSE level. In addition to childcare and homework help, I would be happy to assist with housework and dog walking.

Below is a list of my qualifications and skills which I hope you will find useful.

My Experience

BABYSITTING EXPERIENCE:
I babysat for friends throughout my A levels between 2017-2019 whilst I was living at home, mostly for children aged 4-14yrs. During this time I cooked meals for children, played with them in the evenings and helped out with homework and reading. I also walked dogs for families during the day.

Since being in Sheffield, I have babysat for families with children aged 1-9yrs in the daytime, evenings and weekends. I have also provided overnight care for parents working night shifts.

TUTOR EXPERIENCE:
I tutored for around a year for a family with a 12 year old boy who was being home schooled. I worked through GCSE Maths, Biology and Chemistry with him, explaining concepts in the textbooks and working through problems together.

VOLUNTARY AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
I volunteered with St John Ambulance between the ages of 8-18, and have gained many first aid qualifications during my time there. I spent time doing leadership courses where I learnt to lead and look after other younger children.

I also have received subsequent first aid and medical training during my time as a medical student at the University of Sheffield.

I have gained skills of responsibility and caring for others during my role as a lifeguard at the University of Bristol swimming pool. I had to stay concentrated for hours, showing my attention span and keen eye for details.

Thank you so much! It’s been lovely meeting you all:)

Laura has helped look after my 8 year old son over a few months, whenever I had night shifts at work and during school holidays. Good communication, punctual and extremely helpful.
