Part-Time Proxy Role South West Wiltshire
About Me
We are a warm, welcoming family of five living in a beautiful rural setting in south-west Wiltshire, between Salisbury and Shaftesbury. Our home is busy, happy and outdoors-focused, shared with our three children aged B10, B7 and G5, along with dogs, horses and chickens — so a love of country life and comfort around animals is important.
We both run our own business and work in London two days each week. During this time, we are looking for an experienced and confident nanny/proxy parent to take the lead at home, providing continuity, structure and warmth for the children while we are away.
This role is to work alongside our full time housekeeper who undertakes all laundry and ironing duties.
Our current nanny has been with us for several years and leaves with our gratitude and highest recommendation of the role and our family. We value creating a positive, respectful working environment and hope to find someone who will feel genuinely at home with us for the long term.
When we are home, we prioritise family time and being fully present with the children, so this role focuses on mid-week proxy parenting rather than travel or weekend cover.
We are looking for someone kind, capable and naturally organised — a calm, upbeat presence who enjoys children, takes pride in running an orderly household, and appreciates the rhythm of countryside family life.
My Requirements
This is a part-time live-in nanny / proxy parent position, working from 9:00am Tuesday through to 7:00pm Wednesday each week (approximately 34 hours). Lovely accommodation is provided while on duty.
The role centres on confidently managing family life while we are working away, ensuring the children’s routines run smoothly and that home remains a calm, happy and well-organised environment.
Key responsibilities include:
School runs and driving to activities
Supporting homework and maintaining good school routines
Liaising with schools as needed
Preparing fresh, healthy meals for the children
Managing school kits, weekly organisation and day-to-day logistics
Creating a nurturing, structured and fun environment for the children
We live rurally, so a confident driver with a clean licence is essential.
This established routine has worked extremely well for our family for many years and suits someone seeking a structured part-week role — for example alongside study, creative work or another professional commitment.
Occasional additional proxy cover may be requested by arrangement, always agreed well in advance and compensated separately.
Above all, we are looking for someone who genuinely loves working with children — warm, dependable, proactive and fun — who will become a trusted and valued part of our children’s lives.
Experience in both looking after and riding horses would be a massive bonus.
