About Me

Hello, my name is Frieda and I’m a home-educating, Neurodivergent, working mum to my six-year-old son, who is autistic and has global developmental delay. I work remotely to work around my son’s needs. I’m based in Colindale NW9 ( north west London - a few mins from the underground station)

My Requirements

Private Tutor
Special Needs Experience

My son is pre-verbal with emerging spoken language. He has used single spoken words and communicates effectively through a combination of gestures, facial expressions, vocalisations, and body language to express his needs, preferences, and feelings.

We began our home education journey in September 2025, after he left nursery. This decision was made due to concerns around his needs being appropriately met within a school environment.

My son has an EHCP, which is kept up to date in case he ever returns to a school setting. As we are home educating, I currently deliver the provision outlined in his EHCP.

Currently, he attends some weekly classes, but I would like to introduce a more structured academic learning specifically with maths and English. I wanted to take time to find our rhythm with home education , learn about my son more, before introducing other people into our learning.

I’m now at a point where I would really value additional support, particularly with early maths and English, and I feel it would be beneficial for my son to learn with someone other than myself. He spends a lot of time with me during the week, and I believe having another adult involved in his learning would support both his development and relationship-building, as well as give me some additional support.

I’m looking for someone who is SEND-experienced, ideally with a background in education or who currently works in a school and tutors alongside this. A calm, patient, and creative approach is very important.

My son is very physically active, enjoys movement-based learning ( he also attends swimming classes and gymnastics classes weekly) and benefits from regular breaks to help with regulation. He is a keen observer, enjoys watching others before joining in, and is currently in a strong copying and mimicking phase. He is interested in learning, but thrives when it is delivered in a creative, flexible, and child-led way, while also supporting his growing independence.

We live in Colindale, around two minutes from Colindale station, so someone local would be ideal. I’m also flexible about where learning takes place, provided it is nearby and suitable.

Initially, I’m looking for 1–2 hours once a week, ideally on a Wednesday or Thursday, to see how this works for my son. The hope would be to build this up gradually over time if it’s a good fit.

If this sounds like something you may be interested in, I’d love to hear from you.
