About Me

Hello, my name is Frieda and I’m a home-educating, Neurodivergent, working mum to my six-year-old son, who is autistic and has global developmental delay. I work remotely to work around my son’s needs. I’m based in Colindale NW9 ( north west London - a few mins from the underground station)

My Requirements

Private Tutor
Special Needs Experience

My son is pre-verbal with emerging spoken language. He has used single spoken words and communicates effectively through a combination of gestures, facial expressions, vocalisations, and body language to express his needs, preferences, and feelings.

We began our home education journey in September 2025 after he left nursery. This decision was made due to concerns about whether his needs could be appropriately met within a traditional school environment.

My son has an EHCP, which is kept up to date in case he returns to any school setting in the future.

At the moment, he attends some weekly classes. I would now like to introduce someone who can support his home education alongside me , and eventually take lead.He currently attends weekly play sessions at a sensory play centre that has created an environment for SEND children to also home educate with external tutors it’s called SENplay and it’s in Colindale. I intentionally took time to establish a rhythm with home education and deepen my understanding of how my son learns before bringing someone new into our learning environment.

I now feel it would be really beneficial for my son to have the opportunity to learn with another adult. He spends much of his week with me, so having someone else involved in his learning could support me hugely and support his development, help him build relationships with others, and provide some additional support for me as well.

I’m looking for someone with SEND experience, ideally with a background in education or someone who currently works in a school and offers tutoring alongside this. A calm, patient, and creative approach is very important, as my son responds well to learning through play. Experience with AAC would also be highly valued, as he has a communication app on his tablet that I would like him to begin using more consistently within learning settings.

My son is very physically active and enjoys movement-based learning. He attends weekly swimming and gymnastics classes, benefits from regular movement breaks, and regulates well through physical activity. He is a keen observer who often prefers to watch others before joining in, and he is currently in a strong copying and mimicking phase. He is interested in learning and thrives when activities are creative, flexible, and child-led, while also supporting his growing independence.

We live in Colindale, around two minutes from Colindale station, so someone local would be a huge benefit as I’m aware travel may make it more costly for tutors. I’m also flexible about where learning takes place, for example if you wanted to do learning on a trip or at a park when it’s warmer weather, I am open to work with the tutor and provide resources that can also make learning fun for you both!

Initially, I’m looking for around two hours once a week to start with , ideally on a Wednesday or Thursday, to see how this works for my son. If it’s a good fit, I would hope to gradually increase this over time.

If this sounds like something you may be interested in, I’d love to hear from you.
