About Me

My name is Lucie Walton and I live in Alford, Aberdeenshire, close to Alford Primary School and nursery. I live with my lovely husband of 7 years, Tom and my 2 children, Emma-May, 5 and Noah, 3. We have a dog named Bayley in our household who is hypoallergenic breed dog - cockerpoo.
I am Czech and I encourage my children to speak Czech at home with me and also actively encourage them to explore other languages and cultures.

My background is rooted in the hospitality industry and I have held the position of Restaurant Manager and Events manager in the Czech Republic, Greece and Aberdeenshire. I was dedicated to this role and was always willing to go the extra mile. The nature of the role required a professional but always friendly approach. Every day brought new challenges and a balance of priorities.

After my second child was born it became increasingly difficult to find childcare when the private nursery shut down and also to juggle the daily commute and the responsibility of my career. At this point I decided to take the step of registering as a childminder. I am very interested in how children grow and develop and how they play and learn. I am very patient and am keen to take the time to understand how each child relates to the world.

Learn N' Play Childminding has been registered with the Care Inspector since the beginning of March and I have CRB enhanced clearance and a current paediatric first aid certificate. I also have a food and hygiene Level 2 & allergies certificate and have completed an induction childminding course through the Scottish childminding association and GIFREC training with Aberdeenshire Council.
My true passion is child development and I have enrolled in extra courses to gain a better understanding of this subject .

My true passion is child development and I have enrolled in extra courses to gain a better understanding of this subject . I applied for University course - SCQF Level 7 qualification to work forward to become a qualified nursery teacher.

The environment I provide will be very much focused on developing the children in line with the EYFS. I actively search each week for a new topics, a new ideas to do with children. I love ideas from Twinkl website, where I am a member or DIY Pinterest education and play idea. We do visit local parks, libraries, fun parks and forest schools (fee might be required for this service), toddler clubs.

I am fully insured with SCMA etc.
