Lucie
Childminder in Alford
My Summary
About Me
**Learn N’ Play Childminding – Alford**
Hello, my name is Lucie, and I run Learn N’ Play Childminding in Alford.
I am a qualified early years practitioner with an SVQ Level 3 in Childcare, working as a registered childminder and funded provider. I am also continuing my professional development through further study in early years and childhood practice. I also hold a BA in Economics.
My setting is now fully focused on children aged 0–5 years. I am very passionate about the early years, outdoor learning, creative play, crafts, and meaningful experiences that support children’s development during these important first years.
I currently have some school-age children in my care who have been with me long-term; however, I am no longer accepting new school-age placements. This allows me to dedicate my time, environment, and planning mainly to the needs of younger children.
At Learn N’ Play, children are supported through a thoughtful balance of child-led play and practitioner-guided experiences. Children’s interests guide our learning, while carefully planned activities and suggestions help extend their skills, curiosity, confidence, and engagement.
Children are supported through:
* Play-based learning
* Outdoor learning and local outings
* Creative activities and crafts
* Child-led exploration
* Stories, songs, language and communication
* Independence, confidence and social skills
* A calm, nurturing home-from-home environment
We spend as much time outdoors as possible, exploring our local community and beautiful Aberdeenshire. Indoors, children enjoy a warm, caring environment where they feel safe, valued, and supported as individuals.
I work closely with families to build strong relationships and ensure that each child’s care, learning, routines, and well-being are supported in ways that are personal to them.

My son attended Lucie’s for over 3 years, and I couldn’t recommend her enough.
He learnt so much while having so much fun. Lucie always has great activities planned, at home and out and about.
We couldn’t have asked for a better childminder.

Lucie looked after our 2 year old son ad hoc before he started school nursery.
He loved going to Lucie’s and even though he didn’t go every week he was always so excited to see Lucie and rarley wanted to come home.
Lucie did lots of exciting activities with him and he had the best time!
