About Me

My name is Lucie Walton and I live in Alford, Aberdeenshire, close to Alford Primary School and nursery. I live with my 2 children, Emma-May, 7 and Noah, 5. I am Czech and I encourage my children to speak Czech at home with me and also actively encourage them to explore other languages and cultures.

My background is rooted in the hospitality industry and I have held the position of Restaurant Manager and Events manager in the Czech Republic, Greece and Aberdeenshire. I was dedicated to this role and was always willing to go the extra mile. The nature of the role required a professional but always friendly approach. Every day brought new challenges and a balance of priorities.

After my second child was born it became increasingly difficult to find childcare when the private nursery shut down and also to juggle the daily commute and the responsibility of my career. At this point I decided to take the step of registering as a childminder. I am proud owner of Learn N' Play Childminding. I am very interested in how children grow and develop and how they play and learn. I am very patient and am keen to take the time to understand how each child relates to the world.

My true passion is child development and I have enrolled in extra courses to gain a better understanding of this subject.

I have been registered with the Care Inspector since the beginning of March 2022 and I have CRB enhanced clearance and a current paediatric first aid certificate. I also have a food and hygiene Level 2 allergies certificate and have completed an induction childminding course through the Scottish childminding association and GIFREC training with Aberdeenshire Council. I have recently January 2024 finished my SCQF LEVEL 7 in social service – children and young people. I am fully insured etc. I have been admitted for BA in Childhood, starting in August 2024.

I work to achieve the Health and Social Care Standards: my life, my support. I have carried out risk assessment and fire safety assessment on the house, these will be reviewed regularly. I will promote each child development and apply the GIRFEC – Getting It Right for Every child approach to enable each child to become confident individual, an effective contributor, a successful learner and responsible citizen.

The environment I provide will be very much focused on developing children in line with Early year Framework. I actively search each week for a new topic, we have monthly planned activities. I planned activities as child let play, which stimulates interest and imagination to meet the needs of individual children. To build on children’s knowledge by creating and delivering workshop and activities on, Children’s rights SHANARRI, realising ambitions, Golden rule of participation, setting table and my world outdoor.

We visit local farms, parks, library, woods, toddler clubs. I might take children for outing (fee might be required for this service).

Lucie looked after our 2 year old son ad hoc before he started school nursery.
He loved going to Lucie’s and even though he didn’t go every week he was always so excited to see Lucie and rarley wanted to come home.
Lucie did lots of exciting activities with him and he had the best time!
