About Me
Hi there! I’m Katie and I’m a level 3 qualified early years practitioner who is passionate about childcare. With over ten years of experience in childcare settings, I have the knowledge and experience to create meaningful relationships with children from birth to early adolescence. I have a warm and friendly nature and love being active with forest school activities, messy play and creating engaging and inviting play opportunities.
I have worked in early years education for 11 years now, and have gained a range of experience across different roles with different families. My most recent role was an Area Manager of a childcare company, where I was also a designated safeguarding lead practitioner. I hold a current DBS and 12 hour paediatric first aid certificate, alongside my qualifications in early years and Counselling.
I have a keen interest in psychology, and brain development in children. I have learnt so much through my Counselling training and further exploration of this topic. Having my own children has really helped me to clarify my own belief system on what is the best approach to follow when educating little minds. I have many many thoughts on this, and really it is my passion. I hope to foster an environment which ignites curiousity and wonder, raises emotional intelligence and supports the development of a really strong sense of self. I am a big believer in the importance of respecting and learning about the natural world. We are a mainly outdoor setting, and we have a love of being outside no matter the weather. Being outside helps when regulating our nervous systems, and is a big part of developing emotional regulation skills too. We create micro habits every day which help us to be calm and mindful, this includes yoga and guided breath-work practice. I believe that children should learn through PLAY and through taking part in every day life skills such as cooking and cleaning. Through cooking and eating together, children develop skills and knowledge to develop healthy eating habits which in turn, supports positive mental and physical health.
I hope my children’s childhood is full of JOY and LAUGHTER and PLAY, and hopefully your children can join us too!
My Experience
I have worked in childcare and early years for over ten years, my previous role being an Area Manager for a childcare company.
My Qualifications
I am Level 3 qualified in early years education. I have extensive training in safeguarding with DSL qualification and am first aid trained. I have also completed a level 3 counselling qualification. I regularly update my knowledge through CPD, including supporting autism, challenging behaviour, and basic sign language.
My Availability
My childminding setting Nurtured Childcare is open from 7:30am-5:30pm Tuesday-Friday. I am also available for baby sitting, please message me for more information.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £13.00 per hour
- Childminding from £7.00 per hour
