My Experience

Allied healthcare
I worked as a carer with the elderly giving personal care which consisted of supporting with bathing, getting dressed and, when needed, on going support. Aiding with mobility was necessary as many elderlies struggled with getting around their house. I would also support with household chores such as mopping, vacuuming, preparing, and cooking meals and washing clothes. As a service provider it was my duty and role to ensure the safety and facilitating social-emotional support. Furthermore, my duty was to include administrating medications, cleaning and managing activity and care schedules.
Manor gardens nursey, Hornsey Road children centre
As an early year’s practitioner my role and duty is to motivate learning and development so that the pre-schoolers are able to learn through play. Creating an enabling environment is key as it allows a secure environment for the children as well as using imagination in order to help them learn. How I would do this is by setting up activities before the day begins based on the children’s interests so that they are fully engaged in order to learn. I also work closely with parents in order to get more of an insight on the child’s interests outside the nursery so that I can implement it in the room especially when they are settling in.
My job role also consisted of observing children’s progressions in order to identify the child’s strength and weaknesses, this consists of what barrier that may be holding them back from meeting their full potential it will be my duty to help them overcome it. Most importantly my role consists of ensuring that children are safeguarded inside the nursery and also outside (abuse) through reporting any concerns. I also supervise meals of the ore-schoolers as some may have allergies.
Duties:
? Assisting children during mealtimes
? Assisting to put children to sleep during nap times
? Aiding children to apprehend what is happening in picture books
? Helping children to have the ability to recognise shapes, numbers, and letters
? Setting up tables for breakfast, lunch, and tea
? Setting up the room with different activities relating to the children’s interests
? Sustaining a professional relationship between colleagues, children, and parent
? Motivating children to participate in stimulating activities
? Extending play whilst ensuring hr activity is child-led
? Participating in staff meetings and bringing new ideas to the table
? Complying with policies and procedures and ensuring that my practice meets the EYFS standards

Cupcake’s nursery- room leader role (toddler room)
As a room leader my role was to ensure that I understand the Nurseries policies, my responsibility was to ensure that I deliver and maintain high quality care that encourages and stimulates children and their personal development. For this to work I always ensured that me and my staffs are on the same page so I would implement regular room meetings every Friday to ensure targets and aimed have been achieved. Furthermore, I would create weekly planning rota’s so that every day each area has an activity that would be put out, so the week is prepared and organised, furthermore this will consist of daily rota’s so that everyone has a fair share of responsibilities. Moreover, each display board in the room will have a purpose for example one board will be based of the theme of the week/month, another board can be dedicated to monthly celebrations such as St. Patricks day or Hannukah, where children’s displays will be placed on there.
Additionally, I would ensure that observations were done weekly so that parents are reassured that their children are learning through play at nursery and benefiting from their classroom. Observations are very important so I would always go over staff’s observations to ensure that observations are detailed and written out properly and not rushed. Children’s tracking is something that I am adamant about because the purpose of a nursery is to push children to be the best that they can be so I created a sheet where their key worker can observe a specific area that they believe the child is slacking in and towards the end of the week they can write a review on how the child is doing. These sorts of focused observations are important when collecting evidence of specific skills to enable them to track learning development plan for next steps.
How I always ensured I played my part as a room leader was by:
? Organisation and punctuality
? Being involved
? Giving everyone a say
? Be assertive
? Trust

William Elliot nursery
As a early years practitioner my Job role is to sustain relationship with parents and help facilitate the daily learning of the children. Furthermore, to be able to work in partnership and as a team with other staff members. Creating an environment that meets the needs of the children and parents which may consist of cultural and medical needs.

Encouraging learning through play is the main outcome of nursery and this is done through ensuring that a secure environment is created such as setting out resources to stimulate children’s brain and enable them to learn. Furthermore, ensuring that children’s literacy and numeracy skills are built.

Moreover, my job role consists of having key children which I help them settle in and how that is done is working closely with families. There is currently no room leader role in this nursery so due to my experience of being a room leader I do the planning weekly and do the class rotas so that everyone knows what they are doing for the day. Maintaining and repairing and cleaning equipment’s, books, dressing-up clothes, toys games aprons etc.
