About Me
My name is Portia, I am 29 years old, and am looking for work during the 6 weeks holidays.
I am currently a teaching assistant, and am hoping to sit my PGCE next year to become a primary school teacher.
I have experience with a wide range of children, and have received positive feedback from staff, parents, and children, at each school I’ve worked in.
I love my job, and consider it an honour to be entrusted by parents to care for, and develop, their children.
My Experience
I have been working as a teaching assistant since the beginning of the year. I chose to join an agency, in order to gain as much varied experience as possible, in preparation for my teacher training.
So far, I have worked in the following areas:
• Classroom support
• One-to-one support
• Nursery
• Primary
• Secondary
• Mainstream education
• Children with additional needs
• A school specifically for children with SEN
• Children at various points on the autism spectrum
• Children with severe physical and/or mental disabilities
I am not Montessori trained, however, I have a personal interest and surface level understanding of the methods, and would be happy to work with parents to provide a Montessori environment, to the best of my abilities.
My Qualifications
I have a college diploma, and a degree in Graphic Design.
I have my DBS certificate, and am registered with the Education Workforce Council.
I am awaiting a first aid course provided by my agency, but would be happy to sit it privately, if you were willing to cover the cost.
My Availability
I am very flexible with my time, and can work most days, with fairly short notice. My biggest restriction is transport, as I don’t have a car, and, therefore, am confined to public transport, or locations in walking distance to my home (Talygarn). Send me a message, and we can sort something out.
