My Summary

My Experience

Since the age of 14 I have been babysitting twin girls who were only 2 years old when I started to babysit for them in the evenings after I had finished school and also on the weekends, they are now nearly 7! The girls are now babysat by my younger sister!

After finishing school with almost all of my GCSEs, I started at college as an apprentice in early years, this gave me the opportunity to work in a nursery/pre-school setting 4 days a week! So since just 16 years old, I have spent many many hours (around 30 hours a week!) working with children and meeting their needs and interests. To complete my course I worked 4 days a week in my nursery setting whilst also studying at college one day a week. My course covered many topics such as the basic areas of development, childhood illnesses, supporting those with additional needs, planning and implementing activities for children, etc.. I gained my early years practitioner qualification after completing both practical, assessment and written work.
In my current nursery setting I work as room leader of the baby room but I also have lots of experience with children aged between 0-4!
I also have some experience with children with additional needs, and have worked alongside a child with Down syndrome as well as multiple children with ASD. I have undergone a basic online course on understanding autism to help me get a better insight on dealing with challenges children with autism may face.
As part of my course I have completed my paediatric first aid training, both practical and assessment back in October 2020. This is going to be refreshed again in October 2023.

I also have experience in potty training young children aged 2-3, I also completed a short online training with Babcock, to help give support and guidance to parents surrounding potty training.

I am currently the baby room leader of a busy thriving nursery, and have lots of experience with changing nappies, feeding bottles, carrying out tummy time, sleep times and meeting the basic needs of young babies.
