Ben
Childminder in Beccles
My Summary
About Me
I am currently at capacity but I run a waiting list to give everyone a chance.
I love helping children to learn and have fun in a safe, nurturing environment. The children I look after are given a range of opportunities to develop and challenge themselves. The children's parents appreciate the pictures and updates which I send them.
Our house has a dedicated playroom and a garden. We have a nearby allotment plot with a mud kitchen.
I will take your child on adventures in Beccles and to other places in the area (like Carlton Marshes, Africa Alive and Oulton Broad). We will play games, read stories and sing songs.
I will cook and prepare a range of tasty, healthy food for your child (like "pea pesto pasta" or homemade soup and bread).
If you think I could be a good fit for you and your family then look me up on the Suffolk Infolink website and find my contact details there.
My Experience
I have over five years experience as a childminder and I can show you a range of glowing reviews.
I am a father to a 7 year old and a 10 year old. They are, usually, great role models for the children I look after (we often play games together outside after the school pick-up, for example).
I accept Funded Hours spaces and can take payment through the government's tax-free system.
My Qualifications
NCFE Cache Level 3 Award; pediatric first aid qualified; various PACEY short courses.
My Availability
From September 2026, I will work Tuesdays to Fridays during term time (i.e. I am a term-time only childminder).
I open at 8:00am and close at 5:00pm.

Ben has been our childminder since September 2025, our daughter attends 3 days a week.
Ben is welcoming, attentive and kind in his practice and his provision reflects this. Ben has a lovely routine for the children which enables their independence and this has been reflected in our home.
Transition, was one of the best I have ever been involved in! It was smooth and Ben had taken the time to really get to know each child and a few 'get to know me' days. By day 3 it was like our daughter had never not been there! Relationships are at the heart of what Ben does best, allowing her to feel settled or to notice if she is not 100%. This offers us peace of mind and knowing she is in the best hands.
Ben provides healthy, home cooked meals, often picked from the allotment.
They are constantly out and about, always on an adventure! Being outside is very important to us and Ben always ensures they are in sun cream, hats or wet weather clothing so they can enjoy the activities to the maximum. Ben speaks to the children in such a nurturing and respectful manner and we often hear this wonderful way in his voice notes.
We are kept updated throughout the day of all the wonderful things our daughter gets up to through photos or voice messages which are wonderful to receive on your break in a working day!
Ben goes above and beyond and has supported us as first time parents in ways we will be forever grateful. Offering tips, strategies or just some reassurance balancing work and parent life.
Our daughter has had so many wonderful opportunities available to her to come out of her comfort zone which has shaped her personality and built her confidence. We plan to keep her hear as long as we possibly can!

Ben has been looking after our son, who is now 20 months old, since September 2025 full time, and we honestly couldn’t be happier with the care he has provided.
From the very beginning, Ben put us completely at ease. Leaving your child with someone else at such a young age can feel daunting, but Ben’s calm, thoughtful and professional approach reassured us very quickly. Our son settled in almost immediately and has always been genuinely happy and excited to go.
Ben is fantastic at communicating with parents. He regularly keeps us updated on what our son has been doing, what books he’s enjoying, what he’s learning and how his day has gone, often with photos as well. He really takes the time to understand each child as an individual — their interests, favourite foods, words they’re learning and little details about home life — which helps the children feel comfortable, secure and valued.
We have seen a real improvement in our son’s confidence, communication and social development, and we genuinely feel Ben has played a big part in this. He offers a wide range of engaging activities, both at home and on regular outings which my son really enjoys.
We highly highly recommend Ben to anyone looking for childminders.

We have a one year old son who Ben has been looking after since September 2025 for two days per week. Our son has been very happy with Ben who has given him a really positive experience and great development opportunities. Ben goes out of his way to check how our son is, to update us about what our son is doing with Ben including what books he is reading, and Ben gives us regular updates and photographs of what our son is doing when under the care of Ben.
Ben makes effort to understand specific details about the children who are in his care such as favourite foods, words they are learning, pets they have, etc and he makes sure to talk to the children about these things to help them feel more at home, comfortable and supported.
Ben speaks to children rightly so as he would when greeting an adult and makes sure that they know how important and valued they are. From the second we drop our son off with Ben he is immediately made welcome and he settles in very quickly. Ben takes time to explain things to children in detail in a very articulate and patient manner and if a child asks him a question when he’s speaking with somebody else, he will explain that he will come back to the child to continue the conversation once he has finished his conversation with this other person, then he does this.
I was apprehensive about having somebody other than a parent or grandparent looking after my son at a young age (1 year old) but from speaking with Ben, receiving updates from Ben and seeing how Ben and our son interact put me at ease very quickly. We moved across the country so have had to change childcare providers, however if we were staying in Norfolk/Suffolk (or if Ben was to move to Yorkshire!!) we would definitely continue using him for childcare. We will miss Ben and our son still talks fondly about all of the exciting things he has done and learned at Ben’s. I genuinely feel that Ben has helped accelerate our son’s learning and his social development.
Ben has a good set up at home for the children and he makes sure to arrange regular day trips to keep the children engaged and well rounded.
For anyone reading this, I whole heartedly recommend Ben.
